The Gate keepers cottage is gorgeous. A perfect retreat. Surrounded by gardens and bush makes it a beautiful spot with lots of bird songs to listen to. The hosts were friendly and welcoming. A 5 minute drive to Akaroa town. A bit too far to walk. The continental breakfast provided was perfect. I would recommend staying here.
Only thing it s a bit far to walk to town. The vineyard offered a shuttle to pick up and drop off for dinner so that solved that problem.

I loved the amazing bird song when we stepped out if the car, close enough to town to walk but far enough to be well away from it all.
We couldn't figure out the TV, but hey.....we didn't need it

It was quirky , very comfortable. I e dog.
It was a long way into town, we did not want to drive the lane too much as it was very steep and partly unmade, we had a hired car

The location was beautiful
The fridge didn’t look the lights worked but the motor didn’t so our milk went off and we couldn’t chill our bubbles. Also someone had put a used teabag in tea container and the lids where broken.
