About this chalet rental

Our one bedroom unit is located downstairs at the harbour side of the lodge
with beautiful views of the Whangaroa harbour. The Lodge was built in 1876
by the first councilor of Whangaroa then later became the whangaroa hospital
(hence the address Old hospital road) in later years becoming as we are today
the Sunseeker Lodge. Whangaroa is a small village with a little shop, a fishing
club and a pub the nearest town is Kaeo which is a 10 minute drive from the lodge.
Whangaroa is known as the fishing capital of New Zealand with its extensive harbour
and historic history many story s to be told. So come and enjoy watching the boats
go by in the comfort of your unit or relax in the spa with amazing harbour views
and enjoy this perfect piece of Paradise.

Our hosts, Karen, Evan, and Bella, were absolutely amazing—welcoming, attentive, and genuinely committed to making our stay memorable.The location is ideal for anyone seeking a tranquil retreat, with stunning views over Whangaroa Harbour that provide a breathtaking backdrop for relaxation. Each morning, sipping coffee on the front lawn while soaking in the views was a highlight of our trip.The accommodation itself was immaculate, well-equipped, and thoughtfully decorated, making it feel like a home away from home. If you're looking for a peaceful getaway with outstanding hospitality, this is the place to be. I can't wait to return!

The accommodation was good and extremely well priced. My only disappointment was the view, which was the main reason I booked this accommodation. I imagined sitting in the garden relaxing with the fabulous view but you can only see the view if standing up. The garden hedges and bushes cover the view up.

This property looks just like the photos. It's in a wonderful secluded setting including a gorgeous sunset. The property owner is right there and super helpful, but otherwise respects your privacy. There is a great fishing club for a wonderful meal right down the road.

Beautiful view of Whangaroa Harbor. Totally quiet at night and great accommodating hosts that live on property. Spa overlooking harbor. Northland NZ has the best weather and is a good base for exploring. Try the seafood chowder at the local fishing club. Evan’s (host) recommendation.

It was the perfect retreat for us in the middle of our busy trip of Northland. So picturesque and so comfortable to just relax and enjoy the spa. Good for day trip around about. We enjoyed visiting Kaeo and Matauri Bay for a beach day. Just a short walk to an excellent restaurant on the Whangaroa wharf.

Karan is extremely friendly, and the location is top-notch. My daughter loved spending time in the hot tub, however, we did not have enough time as the weather was not in our favour this time. I want to explore that area more next time and book most of likely same place again.

Karen and Evan are the most wonderful hosts, and their apartments are really spectacular, even better than they look in the photos! The hot tub has great views and is such a treat, I had it all to myself. They really went above and beyond, helping me with rides, meals, and showing me around, it was the best vrbo experience I've ever had! I can't wait to need to be back in the area, and stay here again. Lovely hosts and lovely place!!

The hosts were very friendly, welcoming and non intrusive. The unit is a cozy, well located hidden gem with amazing views. There is a lovely spa outside with great views as well which we really enjoyed. We were lucky enough to have the it all to ourselves while we were there. The unit is clean and well equipped with all the basics you would require while on holiday. The bed and pillows were very comfortable with fresh and clean crisp bedsheets. Bella the resident dog was adorable and very well behaved. The Sport Fishing Club Cafe is just down the road and the fish and chips we had there was so fresh and yum. Overall a great stay - more than happy to recommend.

We were greeted by Karen and made to feel at home. Lovely space to stay - three adults and we were comfy. Shame the spa pool was a little warm for us as it is an asset to the property. Went to the local fishing club for dinner, lovely food. Woke in the morning to bird song and were sad that we had only one night.

The property is in a very nice location, with a view over Whangaroa harbour. The place is quiet and perfect. The Spa is the cherry on the top even if we didn't use it much. The apartment is nice and equipped with everything you need. Karen and his husband were very helpful and easy to communicate with. Highly recommended.
