Great location in the mountains in a quiet little village, good parking, attentive staff to all details from arrival to departure. All shoes are kept in lockers in the foyer and the suitcase wheels are washed by staff before going to the room. All the flooring is thus spectacularly clean. The room was spacious, yukata, 2-piece lounge wear and slippers were provided which you were encouraged to wear throughout the property. There was a late-night ramen provided(yum!), a large traditional Japanese breakfast, and numerous other free snacks available throughout the day. The onsen was FANTASTIC and had both separate and couple areas. Shirakawa Village is nearby which is a great place to spend the day seeing historic village life.
The breakfast is for those who like Japanese cuisine; no other options.

Room was clean and spacious. Dinner and breakfast were great. Complimentary drinks, coffee, tea, afternoon mochi and late night ramen. Both public and private onsens were clean and very relaxing. Location is a short drive to Shirakawa-go

Breakfast was a very tasty Japaneese breakfast. The first morning we had a nice view over the river. Staff friendly. Beautiful hotel with Tatami floors.Complimentary ice poles(good selection),rice drink, afternoon mochi's, coffee machine, yukults, late night Ramen in the onsen area. Private onsen was a treat, you also have the option for the public one. Our room had a lovely view over the river, though it was a shame we couldn't access the path in the day as it would have been nice to go for a walk along it, especially with how hot and humid it was.
Access to river as it looks like a lovely area to go for a stroll.

It’s a short drive from Shirakawago, we had a car but it’s a long way if you have to walk. This hotel is very nicely finished and maintained, looks relatively new. There’s a very nice public onsen, indoor and outdoor baths, we didn’t try the private ones but they looked small for 2 people. Rooms very comfortable with a lovely view of the river.
The food policy here is a complete shambles. My wife doesn’t eat meat and when we reserved our room the hotel agreed to prepare a pescatarian menu, basically just swapping out a couple of the meat dishes for fish, very simple and something every Ryokan we have stayed in previously have done without a problem. A few days before our reservation the hotel emailed us to say that they had changed their food policy, and now only offer a regular meal or an allergen free meal. The allergen free meal however doesn’t exclude all meat but does exclude dairy, nuts etc which my wife eats and is a substantial part of her diet. We asked the hotel to honour the agreement made at reservation, they refused. By this point it was a couple of days before our reservation, too late to book somewhere else and also past the free cancellation date. We advised that we would stick with the regular meal but when we arrived for dinner they had assigned the allergen free meal and they again refused to switch. My wife was then served lamb and duck and advised not to eat it, while I had some fish dishes that my wife didn’t, you really couldn’t make it up. Next day at breakfast they again gave my wife the allergen free meal. It seemed to confuse them because hers arrived 15 minutes after mine. I don’t even recall there being any meat in the regular meal and the allergen free breakfast was very uninspiring, definitely inferior. The meals are big component of the hotel cost and we would not have stayed here if the food policy had been known at point of reservation.
