A convenient, comfortable and relatively quiet place while visiting family in Carlisle.

The location was good. It was peaceful and aptly named.

Our first experience of a property with a heat pump, which would have benefitted the Retreat had it been put on earlier, prior to our arrival. Despite being a studio the 'bathroom' was quite compact. The wardrobe/closet needs to be taller, and the wardrobe door needs a handle to improve access. No drying rack for clothing. Online directions need updating due to road improvements/closures.

Hidden Gem

This little property is privately tucked away in the countryside. We could hear the water from the stream when we were outdoors which was very relaxing .There was bread, butter, jam, milk, orange juice, waffles and Nutella in the property for us which I thought was a nice touch. The bed and pillows were the most comfortable we have ever had. The host was really friendly with messages before and during our stay. We would definitely recommend this place.

As we were there in winter months some outdoor lighting would be good to help navigate the steps to the studio.

Two words for this place: **BUYER BEWARE**. Proceed at your own risk.

It was in a quiet area, shame the damn humidifier had to be on all night as below.

**Review: BUYER BEWARE** I wish I could leave zero stars for this disastrous rental property. From the moment we stepped inside, it was clear that cleanliness and maintenance were not priorities for the owner. The property was *filthy*. Used band-aids were left behind, the BBQ was disgusting and unusable, and there was a spider infestation that made staying there unbearable. The furniture was broken and unsafe, and the toilet was not even secured to the ground, constantly leaking and posing both a sanitary and safety hazard. To make matters worse, a dehumidifier was running full-time due to severe damp issues. The property owner claimed it wasn’t necessary to have it on constantly, but it was extracting gallons of water every single day—proof that the property has serious moisture problems. The conditions were so unacceptable that we cut our 12-day stay short after just 3 miserable nights. Despite providing detailed evidence in writing and with photos, neither Booking.com nor my credit card company took action to resolve the issue. This lack of accountability compounded an already horrendous experience.

Excellent place to get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy peace and quiet.

Quiet, calm, just what I needed to get away from things and study and enjoy peace. The facilities were great, plenty of useful information to enhance your stay, really comfy bed. The only really really tiny complaints were that the bathroom is teeny-tiny, the desk stool was not an office chair type so uncomfortable to sit and work on (I ended up just sat on the sofa), and there was no sugar (the hosts had kindly provided almost everything else for breakfast) luckily I'd taken my own. I am looking forward to going again when I need to write and study in peace.

Very peaceful and relaxing stay.

Very peaceful and quiet location. Property was open plan so perfect with young children. Courtyard was lovely and secluded and safe. The children loved the games and having Netflix was great to have in the evenings.

No freezer or cooker so hard to cook for the children.

Lovely rural retreat

Good location within easy reach of Carlisle but rural. Enjoyed the breakfast items left which were a nice bonus. Lovely outside area to sit and listen to the nearby water. Well equipped and warm studio.

If we were being picky would have liked a teapot and something more comfortable to sit on at the table. Bathroom and kitchen a bit tight but this is a studio so expected.

Very good

The battery's where missing from the tv remote....within 5 minutes after giving notice the battery's where brought to us. Somehow the keys where in the door when we arrived, don't know if this is kindness or forgotten to put it in the locker. The kids loved the spacious studio and the bed was perfect for the 3 of us.

Lovely studio in a beautiful location

Lovely studio. Very nicely decorated and with all the required appliances. Everything was well maintaned and clean. The bed and sofa bed were really comfortable. the host provided easy to follow directions to find the place (the GPS should take you most of the way, just in case). Extra points for the host: there was bread, waffles, milk and juice for breakfast. Totally recommended!

Brilliant stay, beautiful place.

Absolutely wonderful 2 night stay with my husband and 2 year old. Beautiful setting, beautiful apartment and lovely and helpful hosts. We will definitely be returning. Absolutely loved it.

A lovely Birthday break away

Beautiful apartment in a lovely setting, not far from Carlisle and an ASDA for grocery shopping. Very light and airy with lots of little extras (bread, jam, milk, oj and cereal) and as we were lucky with the weather, we were able to make use of the garden, chimnea and bbq facilities. We made some furry friends too and took on the role of stone thrower for Daisy with the occasional hello from Bo. All in all a lovely Birthday break away - Thank you.

Nothing negative, more just 2 points to raise for future travellers to The Retreat really. Firstly, the bed is on the soft side. If you have a dodgy back then you'll be better on the sofa bed. Secondly, if you're coming here to watch TV then the Internet isn't that good. However, do what we did, get out in the garden or play a game or 2. There's loads in the cupboard :)

Great escape from the urban life

Brilliant view, the room is tidy and cozy. The host Judy gave detailed instructions and was very helpful. We have a relax and joyful stay here.

Everything was immaculate. The design and layout was perfect. Judy thought of everything and supplied plenty of little extras that you dont expect to make our stay that little bit better. We were left alone and given our privacy, but Judy was at the other end of the phone if we needed anything and replied instantly.

Only thing I would say is the bed could be bigger.

Beautiful cosy retreat, with lovely living space as well as comfy bed. Drive not too far to Carlisle for food options. Very attentive - Host gave us an extra heater as soon as we contacted to say we were cold
