Could be cleaner.

There is no reception, so you check in at the bar. However, the staff were warm and welcoming. The room was clean, but in need of updating.
When having a shower the power which wasn't great anyway reduced to a trickle and then turned cold.

Well placed for catching ferry. Food good and friendly staff. Complimentary water a good idea. Warm room with comfortable bed . Nice bar.
Stains on carpet in room. Toilet seat needed holding up. Poor lighting- too dim and not flexible enough.
Better direction signs for room 15 (can only see sign once you’ve gone too far up the stairs). Hard to unlock the door. No clear sign in and out procedure.

Lovely Hotel, We were warned prior to arrival that it’s under new ownership and some of the rooms need updating but it was much nicer than we expected. Thank you for being honest Jonny, it was much appreciated but there really was nothing to worry about 😊
Nothing to dislike

It was closed. We weren’t told prior to the day, when we had to find out ourselves while trying to access the restaurant menu for dinner.
Booking.com didn’t advise us of the situation, even though the first person I spoke to on the phone knew there was issues.
Had to find alternative accommodation for the night ourselves. Booking.com told us they would reimburse any extra cost but the alternative was slightly cheaper.
I am extremely disappointed that we were told we wouldn’t get any compensation for all the extra inconvenience and stress it caused trying to sort out the mess that Booking.com should have been aware of. Can’t believe that The Anchorage was still being listed on the site after bringing this to their attention.
Didn’t get in the door.

The anchorage staff were extremely accommodating and friendly. We had a minor issue with the boiler in our room so as a gesture of goodwill the staff upgraded us to a larger room and made the process easy and relaxed.
The McCallan Suite is beautifully decorated and large. It was clean and comfortable and made our overnight stay in Troon memorable. The sea-facing view was an incredible sight to wake up to despite the rain. We enjoyed a local pub dinner before travelling back home.
Highly recommend the location! The staff were definitely the highlight.

The staff were very welcoming and allowed us to check in early
We didn’t realise that we could have turned the radiator in our room down. The heating was on all night and we were too warm. Thats the only complaint. Small one.

Breakfast and location.
The hotel lobbies and corridors are tired but some of updating rooms had happened.

Fabulous breakfast and welcoming staff. The Hotel needs a bit of a modernisation as carpets are getting worn out. Understand that the owners of The Harbour are hoping to get real ale in, that would be great. Even though the stay was during storm Amy the rooms were warm enough, thank you.

We just loved this up and coming quirky and historic hotel. Loved the friendly bar and the black watch plaid carpet. Room was very comfy and looked onto a garden. The breakfast was full Scottish and very tasty. The location right beside the ferry terminal was a great advantage for us. The staff was so friendly and welcoming especially the young girl who was managing the bar and then managed our breakfast. We loved this place

Great location, staff and food/drink
Bed and pillows weren’t too comfortable and window couldn’t be opened (made the room stuffy)

Great location if you are taking the ferry to or from Arran. The hotel is about 10 minutes walk from the beach and 15 minutes from the train station. The decor in the rooms need updating but the new management seem to be on the case and the hotel is perfectly clean. Friendly, helpful staff.
Decor is a bit tired.

Breakfast and service was great. 👍🏼
The room had thick dust round a lot of the skirtings and had a lack of double sockets for charging at the single bed.

We were welcome the moment we walked through the door. Two lovely team members, the young woman who checked us in and her colleague, Harleigh. They looked for a twin room for us at our request, explained the property was under renovation and happily gave us a choice of two rooms, a king renovated and a twin unrenovated. We chose the twin, it was spacious and adequate, we know its on the list for a refit, so cant complain the beds needed replacing as they are on with it and any way they were good enough for one night. Its a pub, so a lovely evening meal and a delicious brekkie with just about the nicest service we could have hoped for from Harleigh. Thank you all so much for making us so welcome, we were up there for a funeral and couldnt have wished for a better start to the day.

Downstairs bar area full of character and charm, generally very clean and smelt fresh from the use of air fresheners. The front was nicely painted with lots of patron parking available. Our room was comfortable with nice pillows, duvet and mattress. The big walk in wardrobe was ideal for storing suitcases and larger items. Staff were helpful with check in and other bits we needed. The breakfast lady over this weekend was lovely and on the ball! Perfect location for what we needed as well as close to local amenities. We would stay again.
The upstairs and rooms however were not as charming, the rooms are basic and could do with a good paint and refurbishment (carpets lifting, radiators wonky and marks on all walls) Our rooms had no major faults other than the kitchen fan next to the window but that didn’t effect our sleep or stay (just an observation that may effect others).
We were staying alongside some friends and their rooms unfortunately were not as welcoming (broken windows, sockets falling off walls, no automatic lock feature on door, questionable swivel loveseat in front of a full wall to ceiling mirror). The garden and smoking area looked tired and not the best kept but I’m sure once the trees have grown back it will be lovely.

We gathered at The Anchorage hotel to connect with good friends visiting Troon from Australia. the bar and staff were fantastic , as was the beer garden. I booked a twin room with a friend at the top of the hotel. The room was very tired but the bedding was crisp and clean if nothing else was. We enjoyed our stay but i would say not to expect too much from the rooms. A clean bed to sleep in but please don't look behind them when you think your glasses have fallen down the side.
The room we were in could do with a wee makeover but we camp a lot so as long as the bed was clean...and it was.

Great stop over for a night before heading over to Arran. Literally 2mins from ferry terminal. Staff lovely and so helpful. Rooms are basic, but comfortable. Breakfast delicious and great options, made fresh and more than just your full Scottish.
Rooms dated but fine for the night

Breakfast was fabulous
The property is a dive and requires complete refurbishment. My bedroom carpet had numerous had dried solid fluids stained upon it which was quite disgusting. The bedroom was more like a doss house room. The bedroom was not cleaned for two days…..
