Castleview @ Newton Steading Farm

Anthony and Caroline’s home is huge, with very modern appliances but retains features of its history. On arrival we were provided with complimentary milk, bread, butter, and juice; and everything else we could possibly need, including some really nice toiletries. We stayed with our reactive dog and the quiet surroundings made our stay really enjoyable. We loved seeing all the farm animals around (including some very friendly goats!). Anthony was always available to answer any questions we had as well. We will definitely be back!

Nothing, everything was perfect

It was beautiful, bright, spacious, clean and had everything you could possibly need. Everything was of high quality including fittings, furniture & beds/bedding. The kitchen is huge. Anthony the owner was responsive to any questions or to help. We enjoyed spotting all the local wildlife and the owners farm animals too. The owner provided a tray with bread, coffee, treats etc and also butter & milk, which was a lovely touch. The outdoor kitchen/BBQ was great, although we didn’t get the chance to use it.

It was very remote, which meant we had to drive to go anywhere.

We had a fabulous stay, the hosts were on the property but were not overbearing at all. Just on hand if we needed anything and also took my son for a ride on the quad bike. All the animals were friendly and so fun for the kids to look at- especially the goats and the very friendly cat. Anthony went above and beyond and even received our Tesco shopping and put it away! Can’t wait to come back one day.

Great size, perfect for 5 of us (3 adults and 2 teenagers sharing). Really liked the peaceful surroundings and animals co inhabiting outside. Frank (the peacock) took an interest and would frequently be found at the window or door. Nice set up with all utensils and equipment to live home away from home. Constantly warm and cozy and plenty of firewood too- this wasn’t needed as well heated but it was nice to out on in the evening. Amazing peaceful surroundings and good, helpful host. We used this as a base for Glenshee skiing which was about 45 minutes away. Nearest village for food was about 15 minutes (though we did get to a chippy in 10 and a lovely farm shop cafe in 5)

It was a shame the water cleaning system wasn’t working as we used bottled water (which the host supplied). Tap water did look discoloured when filling up a sink/bathing but we debated whether this impacted the overall experience and decided that the positives overwhelmingly outweighed this one negative
