3-bedroom log house set in woodland in the heart of Highland Perthshire

The cabin was easy to get to, with the directions. Cabin was clean and tidy. Bed was comfortable And the sitting room. It took a bit of time to get the cooker and oven to work, but once you did it was easy. It was a nice relaxing time. The weather was wet but we managed to get some walking done with Winston the dog

Enjoyed our time in Pitlochry/ Kirkmichael having the privilege to stay in your lodge. We had a dog with us, all worked out so well.

9 of us had a fantastic time at Richard's cabin. It's a beautiful, cosy and spacious home in an unbelievably beautiful place. Richard was very helpful and made the whole thing very easy. Will definitely stay here again.

Quiet and relaxing. The property suited our requirements, lots of walks on the doorstep. Lot's of wildlife close by. The dog loved the walks. Bonus was the weather good.

This was exactly what we were looking for. Such a lovley cabin in a wonderful quiet place in the woods. Richard the host was very helpful and responsive. The place was clean and cosy with a lovely wood fireplace. Not far either from the town of pitlochry which was a great place to see and explore. Cant reccomend this stay enough and we would be very keen to return!

Fabulous log cabin in an amazing part of Scotland

The shack itself is lovely and is located in a beautiful area. Unfortunately, it was very dark inside and not very clean. Tiles in the bathroom are loose, wood which was prepared for a log fire was not dry enough and also we didn't have any warm water in there although we followed all the instructions as good as possible. There is no WiFi and very weak internet, but that's fine - you just should know about it. all in all, we enjoyed our stay, but things were different from what we expected.

We had a wonderfull stay. The house was very nice situated. Nice view , We had company of several deer and the squirrel.

I wasn’t sure about Richard’s cabin when I read some of the reviews here, but the moment I saw the place, I realised it was perhaps one of the best cabins I’ve ever picked! We stayed there for two nights, and none of us wanted to leave! In fact, I am going to book it again. Cosy and warm cabin with unique surroundings, the only things we could hear were birds tweeting and deer walking around. A fireplace outside the cabin and a log burner inside, well-equipped kitchen, good size bedrooms,…. I’ve also had no problem with phone signals (I am on EE).

Rather tired and poorly managed. A misunderstanding with the owner and cleaners meant we had to wait until 6 for our turnaround. The hob only had 2 functioning rings. The dishwasher had lost its lower runner wheel. One of the cupboard door hinges was broken. The curtain hook in the master bedroom was broken. Two of the dining chairs had very wobbly legs. An electric socket at floor level was broken and unsafe.

We had a great week here, after a very busy run up to our holiday it was the perfect place to just relax. There’s plenty walks right from the cabin for days you don’t want to drive, village shop is walkable too and you can take in a river walk on the way. We had deer, pheasants, jays, red squirrel all wandering into the garden area and swifts nesting above the entrance door. Good base to have days out to Pitlochry, Dunkeld and we even took a day trip up to Landmark at Carrbridge which was great to give the kids a treat.

Appalling!! On arrival there is an immediate air of neglect, windows dirty and poorly maintained.At the front door are 3 door mats all falling apart but for some reason stacked on top of each other. It appears as they have worn out another has been placed on top creating a slip/trip hazard. On entering the porch there is a smell of damp and again neglect, it is also very dark and needs the lights putting on to safely walk through. As you enter the hallway the smell and darkness continues. We then noticed a stronger smell coming from the children's room and a swarm of flies. We opened the wardrobe door which was full of child's toys and saw that someone had vomited over the toys creating a puddle on the floor. Our initial reaction was to open the windows but found they were either screwed down or secured with locks and no keys. We then searched for disinfectant without success. There is no WiFi or telephone signal at the cottage so I drove down the hill to contact the host who in fairness sent a cleaner within the hour. However she managed only to get rid of the bulk of the vomit. Unfortunately nothing improved from thereon and below are some of the other issues. Mould in lounge and bathroom. Bathroom has a extractor which does not work Smell permeates throughout the property. Damp in corners and in heating cupboard Lighting totally inadequate. eclectic another word for cast offs? Sockets/ switches dirty and not all working Seating, settees, chairs way past thier usefulness, stained, dirty uncomfortable and badly worn Beds and bedding. Uncomfortable and bedding inadequate (thin quilt) and smell old. Bath not enough hot water and takes too long to fill. According to staff member this has been a problem for approximately 12 years!! Wardrobes full of baby equipment so could not store clothes without taking out the equipment which would then remain in the room. Sink plug jammed, regular occurrence,according to staff. Plunger not cleaned since previous use!! and did not fix the problem. Kindling none. Logs man turned up on Wednesday to chop and allocate our quota of logs!! Doormats, 7doormats in total for 2 doors?? All old and a trip hazard Curtains dragging on floor obviously not fitted. Other curtains old and dirty. Kitchen second hand, door broken, no cupboards for food. Toaster only one half works. We have taken photos and video which we can supply to you.

Our log cabin is located in the most beautiful rural setting, away from hustle and bustle. The cabin met all our needs and more - nature on our door step with seeing fallow deer, red squirrels and various species of birds. We will most definitely return.

Lovely lodge hidden in the woods, perfect escape from life!

What an amazing getaway. A great place to reconnect with nature. Storm Eunice brought the snow creating a wonderful winter wonderland. Such a cozy and comfortable cabin to chill and relax. It has everything you need. Although the mattress on the bed is a bit uncomfortable. The views out the back are beautiful, as is the surrounding area. A lovely walk up to and through the forest.

Other problems. Re hot water , partial working on hob, smell of damp. Furnishing stained and old I could go on

Myself and three others used the property as a business retreat - it was beautifully secluded, very spacious and nicely kitted out. Would definitely recommend

Great property in a fantastic location if you want to look out at the surrounding wildlife and explore on foot. We were a family of four with three dogs and the cabin felt nice and spacious. Needs updating a bit but still very good value. We would happily go back.

Would rent again. And recommend

We have spent 3 nights over Xmas and all what we can say It was amazing!!! Lovely location surounded by forest and lovely log house. Very spacious and you have everything you need to make your stay comfy and warm. Beautiful nature around and stream just few steps away. We had amazing time there and enjoyed every moment. Richard is very kind host. Explained us everything in detail what we need to know for our stay. Lookin’ forward to comeback next year.

My husband and I travelled through to Kirkmichael for a long weekend stay at this property and were really pleased with everything the cottage had to offer. The area is beautiful and the house itself is a gorgeous wooden home with a really fun turf roof that helps camouflage it into the surrounding environment. The fireplace was amazing as was the view in the living room outside the huge bay windows. There was plenty of hot water and the heating worked well for us throughout the day. The only thing we were disappointed by was the comfort of the bed which was really poor. Overall had an amazing stay and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a wee city escape! The owners of the house gave us tonnes of information regarding the house and what to expect, as well as a generous discount for bringing our own towels/bedding and for accommodating a broken door lock. Really positive experience.

Location amazing, lovely big lodge. Would benefit from some TLC but overall fab place Kids loved the space inside and out. Would have been a great weekend, Sadly storm Arwen spoiled our weekend with a power cut. Host was fab with a refund.

Excellent setting for a relaxing weekend

Sits in a fantastic quiet location. With a real wilderness feel. Our yearly escape.

The property was self entry via key-safe, which suites us all as we don’t have added pressure of arriving on time. We received our information sheets prior to leaving home, giving us a chance to familiarise ourselves with the do’s and don’t of the property.. It is a large house as well as a long house with other similar houses discreetly dotted around out of sight of each other. We are a family with dogs and both the toilet walks and social walks are excellent from the house. Be prepared to seeing deer walking past the house, (don’t forget to pack a tick remover) we had no issues. It was a really nice break

Just spent the weekend with the family at 1 Glen Derby and had a fastastic weekend!Cabin is huge and very comfortable and has everything you need.Outside area is lovely and although you have the lovely feeling of remoteness, it is only a 10 minute walk to the shop or the local hotel for food or drinks.Lovely walks in and around the area and short drive to Pitlochery / Blairgowrie for those in need of a shopping fix (like my Mum).We would all definitely stay here again and I have already been waxing lyrical about this cabin to my work colleagues in the canteen this morning and my friends last night.

I'm so glad we found this place, the accommodation and location we're perfect for us. The walks in the area are amazing, Kindrogan Forest is under some kind of silence spell, it was so quiet it made our ears ring! Great base to tour the area, and lovely to come home to. We really didn't want to leave at the end of our stay

Excellent property, stunning location, fantastic host! Just back from 3 nights at 1 Glen Derby and already looking at booking up for another visit. The location is second to none, so quiet and peaceful. Surrounding area is beautiful and all the locals very friendly. Didn't touch the TV once, spent the entire weekend either walking or around the fire , outdoors and indoors. Not a place if you want super fast broadband or any sort of data signal on your phone, enough signal to make the required phone calls and that's it, This is a massive positive. Just go and take in the stunning surroundings.

A lovely cosy peaceful property - warm, clean, well kitted out, with wild surroundings close to a stream. We loved touring the surroundings - Pitlochry, rafting on the river Tay, Blair Atholl castle, dinner at the local Kirkmichael arms. In return for this quiet beautiful location you should be prepared for it to be pretty remote - most activities we found suitable for our kids were to be found in the next valley over, so min 30 min journey over tbe hilltops. All in all though we had a great holiday.
