Good stay within walking distance of everything

Loved the location and availability of parking near the house. Loved how quiet it was.

Not quite what I expected, but okay

The location was fantastic. Perfect for us. Far enough to be quiet but close enough to be walkable. It was nice enough, but seemed to be priced a little high compared to similar properties in the area.

We were under the impression this was a hotel with staff. It was more like a VRBO room rental. In my search, I specifically filtered for free onsite parking. There are numerous rooms and only 2 spaces. Of course they were full. The public parking isn't easy to find and it is a bit far. We couldn't find parking instructions in the listing. It's difficult to carry and roll luggage up the hill and over the cobblestone. Without staff, we had to figure out parking on our own. I sent messages, but by the time we hear back we had found another struggling guest and we figured it out together.

Ruined stay by unclear parking expectations

The property was ok but sadly when we arrived , we were told there was no parking place available and the initial position was that there was nothing they could do about it with a shoulder shrug . Their listing says public parking is ‘possible’ outside ; I had specifically asked about parking before booking and was told it was possible and again communicated this after booking. Had I known there was even a minuscule chance that there would be no parking , I would not have booked or would have cancelled

The attitude of the receptionist initially and of the owner. The day we arrived was a three day weekend with the next day being Independence Day hence the town was packed; this is something we did not know till we arrived. The receptionist initially said she could do nothing! I requested that we be allowed to bring the car near the entrance just to unload our bags and we would then go and look for paid parking elsewhere ; she said she could not even allow that even though there were places adjacent to pull up to unload. She then spoke to the owner but would not let me talk to him and then told us to go and park at some public buildings in the town and then walk back down some steep steps and cobbled uphill streets with our bags ; we are 74 years old! Finally she relented and told us we could bring the car and unload our bags and we did that and went looking for parking elsewhere. After a wild goose chase , we decided we would park adjacent to the place even though she told us that the neighbors do not like it . When we got back , she had relented a bit more and finally told us we could park in one of the spots she had initially said we could not with some vague story about after 5:30 pm . Subsequently the owner exchanged very defensive and somewhat offensive messages on the booking platform. I am a reasonable person and have been traveling for well over 40 years and understand that some unpredictable things can happen though in this case it was obvious that the owner knew we would be caught in this situation while we did not. Even an ounce of concern , let alone apologetic tone and a desire to work out a solution would have made a difference

Great

The proximity to the center of the old town, to the fortress, the museum and the old streets. The location was excellent, the sheets were clean, the bathroom has all the necessary items. There is also a train that is close to the house, but it wasn’t so disturbing as I expected to be.

The house needs to be clean more often because there were some spiders in the corners of the stairs and lobby.

Comfortable and truly historic

Truly historic- the revolutionary hero, Levski, used to visit and hide here. Ideal location, only doors from the Serafina house. Nice staff, easy parking, good air con.

Amazing stay at a historic home!

This is a historic hotel on a historic street. One of the revolutionaries of the fight for Bulgarian independence stayed here. So it is an old home. Which to me is part of the charm. Old wood floors. Traditional low bed. AMAZING VIEW. Wonderful location. Staff was just above and beyond.

Not that I didn’t like or that it could be changed but the steps to our room had a very low ceiling which is something some guests might need to be aware of.

Lovely place, very cozy. Old building, very well maintained. We had a nice room with view over the city, fabulous! Everything was clean. There are few parking spaces in front. Lovely kitchen in communal area well equipped. Very close to centre and restaurants. We loved staying here.

The entire stay was cozy, comfortable, and full of authentic charm.

Our stay at the apartment in HiStory Inn was an absolute delight! The place is beautifully decorated in a charming, vintage style that takes you back in time, yet offers all the modern comfort you need. Everything was spotlessly clean and well-maintained. The location is perfect — on a quiet street, but still close to all the main attractions. We would definitely love to come back. Highly recommended!

Enjoyable little gem

It is in the city centre, and it is convenient if you travel by car because you have the possibility to park for free. The Wi-Fi was also OK, so our two must-haves have been perfectly fulfilled. The ambience is great, too. We enjoyed taking our coffee in the dining room. You have all kitchen amenities there, plus instant coffee and tea.

Not well noise-insulated windows-wise. There is railway and road infrastructure beneath, and you hear all the traffic which starts quite early in the morning. So make sure to be equipped with earplugs if you have light sleep.

The house was old

The location was very central and there was a parking place outside.

The bed was extremely uncomfortable. It was very soft and on the first night there was a waterproof mattress protector which made a lot of noise and made us slide down the bed continuously throughout the night. They removed the mattress protector for us the second night which helped a bit but the bed still was too soft and creaky. The room description mentioned a terrace which we assumed to be private but is in fact a shared terrace where you have to go outside and down into and through the building again to get to. It is nice but should not be in the room description but rather as general facilities. The same goes for the drink making facilities which are again shared and you need to go outside, down stairs and inside again. Final point was that the room was very dark with a path right next to the window so you can’t lift the net curtains. We suspected that through as you could see it from the pictures on booking.com.

Spotless vintage house with some great views

The location is perfect. There is a great cure from the room, and there is a garden at the back with tables and swinging chairs. The accommodations in the room are great as well. It's a great overall place to rest.

There aren't reserved parking spots, so you might have to park some distance from the house.

Exceptional

Everything was delightful: the host was very nice and friendly, the room was big and clean and the property itself is very unique. It is also close to the restaurants and shops and to the fortress, but in the same time it is located in a quiet area making your stay more peaceful. I highly reccomend this property, we had a lovely time there and for sure we will go back.

Maybe our short stay, but we will come back.

The location is central, very special, felt like we were in a castle. We were surpised by the access road, but we managed it.

Big room; big beds; nice environment; flexible check-in and check-out system.

Although the room is nice, being a big one needs special attention from the cleaning staff. There were spiders on the ceiling and corners which is not a very welcoming environment. Also, the bathroom is small and the shower is not separated by anything to the rest of the bath facilities.

Very short bed and noisy! I'm 173cm and the bed was too short, every movement causes a creak, no elevator ( room located in a basement -uncomfortable to get in there ( very kind host offered us to help with luggage), no cooling system only heating, noisy (the house is very beautiful but old so it hears every single step of other people

A really great place. We were alone, because it's not the season. Place was really affordale for what it is. Hotel was situated in a charming part of the old city, with great restaurants close by. Really enjoyed that place a lot !

Old reconditioned house, with all new facilities, nice retro design and very clean rooms, with comfortable beds. Friendly staff, nice room for breakfast and terrace with a pitoresque view.

The shower it's a bit difficult to use (small bathroom, no window). All the rooms with nice view are very noisy because they are placed above the train and the main road. Our room was right on the left side from the entrance, with no wow view, but it was quiet despite the small road right at our window. Parking is very difficult.

Great location

The location was great, close to downtown, restaurants and most attractions. We had a room with a great view and very large. For an old house, it was in very good condition. We loved the wooden ceiling in the room. The wet bathroom was new to us, but turned out fine. A heated floor could have been a plus for this solution to reduce moisture quickly. Late check in was well planned and went smoothly. The lack of breakfast or at least coffee was a minus for us. We looked for coffee and breakfast in the area, but most opened at 10 at least, which for tourists can be late sometimes. Overwall, it was a pleasant experience. If we visit BT again, will choose the same location for sure.

A bit noisy when the windows were open as there is a national road and railway nearby, but with the windows closed it was very acceptable. However, when passing through Veliko Tarnovo on the national road, I admired the houses at the top of the tunnel every time. Now, I was practically staying in one of the houses I was admiring, so a bit of noise is a good compromise :)

Amazing staff, always there to provide support. Its proximity to the town center and outstanding arhitecture make me want to revisit it each time.

The mattress was a nightmare. I ve been sweating all night. Each time we were moving it made funny noises, like it was wrapped in plastic. Unfortunately i couldn t really relax.

Petya on the staff went way out of her way to help us resolve a problem. We will always remember her kind efforts. The place is very nice, in an antique building and our room had a lovely view over the valley.

Taxis won't enter or pick you up in this old part of town (specifically all hotels on General Gurko street) so if you have bags it's a long, cobblestoned, uphill drag to where taxis will get you. The kitchen lacked a hotplate or stovetop to fry eggs and such.
