A Gem of a property

The location was very peaceful, truly off the beaten track. Spotlessly clean, comfy bed and excellent bathroom. Plenty of piping hot water to fill the huge bath and relax. Good location for us to see family.

There was nothing to dislike. The only thing that would be better is if the bathroom light which works on a sensor went off quicker when you finished. We like a window open at night so left the bathroom door open as that is the only window. Night time visits meant shutting the door then reopening. Everything else was perfect for us.

Perfect place to stay if you like the countryside and animals

The lovely welcome I recieved from the family and dogs was so nice after a 6hour drive . I went to see the goats before my room ! Erica and Josh are wonderful hosts and even invited us to their bonfire / music that night . The bed was the comfiest bed I’ve ever slept in . I loved the big bath . It’s a beautiful place to stay and only a few miles from Colchester . So much nicer than a hotel chain .

Very clean, warm and comfortable, especially the bed. Easy communication with owner. It was ideal for a short break and for visiting Colchester.

Minor point but bathroom lights on sensor are a bit dazzling in middle of night! Lack of reliable phone signal (EE) might be an issue for some.

Very clean comfortable stay in the middle of countryside

Very clean and comfortable. Everything you needed to stay Didn’t see any staff so couldn’t comment on them but the dogs came to welcome us

I would have liked to know that once inside the front gates it was a long rough ride to the accommodation. We weren’t expecting to have to drive such a journey. It was ok but would have liked to have known that we were in the right place as it was a bit remote. Once there it was great though

Very calm and tranquil but exceptionally remote

The lodge is beautiful and exceptionally clean. The bed was so comfortable. Very modern and great to have a tv. I couldn’t find a hook to hang any coats/wet towels though but such a minor point.

I think it should be sign posted better. There is a tiny sign pointing down to the lodges and if you arrive when it’s dark you would never see it. Maybe the access point is shared land but if not, you definitely need better signage for the lodges, thanks

The property is located off the beaten track, in the midst of nature. It’s GORGEOUS! When we enterthe gates , down the country path, we were greeted by cute, little, wild rabbits. Hopping about everywhere. As we got a little further along, a family of geese stopped us in our tracks(literally) it was wonderful to see the mum and dad leading their five youngsters on a waddle ! We pulled up at our lodge and to our surprise, it was beautifully finished. With an amazing bath and shower! Spotlessly clean throughout , well equipped with everything we needed. We had the brief, pleasure of meeting the owners and their lovely family. We also met, the dog’s, goat’s ( Gem & Betsy x) Cockerel, hen’s, chicks……. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🤣🤣🥰🥰The host’s are a lovely family offering help at anytime but not invading our space. They have created a beautiful little spot next to a fabulous fishing lake. Lovely area for walks. We drove in to Clacton, which is about 25 mins drive. It was a beautiful day so we sat on the gorgeous, sandy,beach. In the evening, we sat outside our lodge looking up at the stars, in almost total silence, apart from the animals x Well done guy’s 👏👏👏👏👏 you have totally got it right!!! Thanks for a wonderful stay. We will definitely return soon Karen & Bianca xx

A beautiful peaceful place to stay.

Beautifully appointed lodge which was very comfortable

Having to stop the car to open and then close the main gates on entry and exit. I was back before it went dark, but I wouldn’t have been happy in the dark as it is quite isolated. The track that then leads to the lodges had a number of potholes which I could avoid, but again could have been a problem in the dark.

There was nothing we didn’t like about the property. If anything a heated lamp outside and an extra blanket would be a great addition but doesn’t change the amazing stay we had.

Lovely quiet situation, very nice hosts, relaxing.

Spacious accommodation, really big comfy bed, nice modern kitchen and bathroom Beautiful surroundings and able to eat our breakfast outside.

The automatic light which came on in the bathroom as soon as the door opens-it’s such an awful rude awakening in the night and the brightness even woke up my partner! The owners advised us to switch off the main switch on the wall but that doesn’t work. You really have to climb up and put black paper over the sensor on the ceiling. Difficult to get back to sleep after that
