San Marcos Cultural & Guesthouse

The room with a view is actually a suite with 2 views as it also includes a study with a desk, chair, kettle, tea bags and cups and a reading hammock. There's also a very large lounge shared with one other room. The bedroom is huge and the view is spectacular. The whole property is wonderful, it's a traditional courtyard house, huge and beautiful. The host is wonderful and kind , the enormous breakfast was different every morning and was enough to fill me up for the whole day. The location is perfect, you have to be careful when choosing accommodation in Quito to ensure the area is completely safe and you aren't going to get hassled when you walk out the door. As a solo female traveller I took my time to research and this place was deemed super safe. My research was correct, the location is safe and quiet, I could walk around safely and it was easy to access being a quick walk from San Francisco metro station. I highly recommend this guesthouse 2 points to note. As with all old properties with thick walls the WiFi struggles to get through, even when the router is right outside the door. I had a cheap local SIM and got a strong connection with that when the WiFi was weak. Also I prefer a hot shower rather than warm

The location of the Guesthouse is superb, on a quiet street and just a 5 min walk to the Grande Plaza. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes in close proximity, and the Guesthouse oozes historic charm, in-keeping with its surrounds. Our very friendly hosts allowed us to occupy our room early on arrival and stored our bags until our late afternoon departure.

Edna, the owner, is lovely and prepares a great breakfast. When I told Edna I love tea she changed our room to an available one with a kettle - thank you!

It is close to the historical city centre, good breakfast.

Not a really comfy bed. The electric heater in the shower didn't work. When I said it to the lady she told me there must be a very small stream and then it is warm. Don't know how you get a shower in a very small stream then. The location is according to her safe only till 8pm.
