La Posada Colonial is close to the old town of Quito, which can be reached on foot. I was given a larger room than I had booked on arrival, and it was both comfortable and clean. I was also offered a transfer from the airport and some useful tips from the very helpful staff.
I was aware of this, but the area did not feel safe after dark (the hotel however is very safety conscious and I didn't have any problems).
