Disappointed

We never expected a shiny chain hotel since Cinque Terra is all about the rustic charm. Both the grounds and the accommodation buildings are in need of quite a bit of maintenance. It looks like nothing but the bare minimum has been done for ages, inside and out. The shower walls in our unit were severely damaged. Someone had attempted to repair them with peel and stick shapes that were peeling off in many places, leaving sharp edges and revealing black mould underneath. The screen on the entrance door was ripped and hanging off. The freezer was so full of frost from not being defrosted that you could barely get your hand inside. It took us over 2 hours to defrost it so we could make ice, in paper cups; no ice cube trays to be seen. Since we were travelling 2 couples together, they offered us accommodations with 2 bedrooms and a kitchen instead of 2 single rooms. ‘Great, we can cook for ourselves!’ we thought. Except the stove had been intentionally disabled. When we reported that the stove was not working, they informed us that they had shut the gas off to the stove because prior renters had made too much mess. The unit we stayed in had no locks on the doors to outside; anyone could have come in at any time of the day or night. The bedroom doors did have locks. All of the gardens and bushes around the accommodations are quite overgrown. The overgrowth caused it to be buggy than would be the case if the grounds were well maintained. But either way, the grounds were definitely not as displayed online. Lastly, the actual accommodations are nowhere near the check-in location. This was not made clear during the booking process. We were under the impression that we were staying ‘right in town’ when really it was quite a walk to get to the accommodations. For people who are mobility challenged, that might be an issue. On the positive side, the sheets were clean and the beds were very comfortable.

Amazing Sea and Mountain View’s

The room location was very easy to be accessed from the Main Street of Riomaggiore (be aware of lots of steps). Even though the room was a little outdated, it gave a vintage vibe. Host was super friendly and helpful, he even gifted me with a treat, left at my room door, on my birthday… just so kind!

Room was a little outdated and the flower garden through out the patio could take some love and care as well.

Arnaque à éviter

ESCROC NE RESERVEZ SURTOUT PAS LÀ-BAS : nous arrivons à l''adresse renseignée pensant tomber directement sur notre appartement. Or il s'agit du bureau du propriétaire. Le propriétaire en question est grognon et nous dit directement en anglais que "les gens sont chiants" en parlant de ses clients... Déjà à ce moments là nous trouvons le monsieur particulier et peu chaleureux. Après paiement il nous dit de le suivre. De son bureau nous marchons une dizaine de minutes et comprenons alors que : le logement n'est pas situé dans l'avenue principale comme renseigné sur booking. Après avoir grimpé la ville jusqu'à son sommet puis suivi le monsieur qui partait sur son scooter pour ensuite descendre 3 volées de marches, le proprio nous montre notre appartement. Et là on se décompose : en plus de ne pas être dans le centre, l'appartement sent l'humidité, la terrasse donne "à peine une vue sur la mer" encombrée par les maisons et la station de train en contrebas, des cadavres de bouteilles d'alcool au pied de notre terrasse, bref on est déçus. On décide de partir de là tout en contact booking (service client incroyable soit dit passant) pour se plaindre et refuser de loger là bas. Entre temps, le propriétaire nous recontacte pour proposer une solution alternative : certes dans le centre mais tous les éléments pour lesquels nous avions réservé (terrasse, vue sur mer, ...) n'étaient pas présents. Lorsque nous avons refusé, je vous épargne les arguments et la grossièreté du personnage. Je relèverais néanmoins qu'il a décidé de nous rembourser et d'annuler de lui-même la réservation ce qui nous a évite de devoir lutter à posteriori pour récupérer notre argent. C'est le seul point positif dans cette histoire. Bref n'y allez pas. Nous avons trouvé en plein centre une très belle chambre avec terrasse au même prix avec un propriétaire incroyable.

Grande potenziale, ma servono cura e manutenzione

Contesto, immerso nel verde

abbiamo prenotato un appartamentino king superior vedendo delle foto su booking, questo sembrava esser molto carino e moderno. Una volta lì ci è stato dato un appartamento diverso da quello visto ed è stato detto che quello visto su booking era per 4 persone e quindi costava di più. (e allora mettete le foto giuste). Ci siamo fatte andare bene l’appartamento che si trovava vicino al castello, immerso nel verde. L’appartamento aveva un arredamento discutibile e presentava tantissimi problemi di praticità oltre che imperfezioni. Es: quadro nella doccia che impediva lo scorrimento del doccino, (probabilmente per coprire un danno nel muro), piastrelline delle doccia staccate; mancanza di appoggi in bagno; mancanza di prese in camera da letto. Anche la parte esterna era trasandata con un biliardino rotto, nascosto sotto al balconcino, vicino ad una vasca ad idromassaggio gonfiabile con dentro acqua verde putrida e in alcuni punti il verde era davvero troppo rigoglioso, (andrebbe maggiormente curato e potato). Nel complesso, la struttura, composta da vari appartamenti, ha un potenziale altissimo con l’adeguata manutenzione e con un restyling degli interni.
