About this villa rental
Nestling in the sleepy, unspoilt village of Maleme, with a backdrop of the White Mountains and a beautiful adjoining orange grove, Maleme Villa offers a luxury, tranquil Cretan village holiday. Only a five minute stroll through the rustic village lanes to the beach, taverns and shops, yet sufficiently far enough from the main resort area to ensure a peaceful, relaxing setting, our traditionally built villa has been lovingly and tastefully restored to maintain its original charm and character whilst importantly incorporating all the facilities you would expect for modern day living and more.
Next to a lovely orange grove, to the side of the property, in the pretty walled-garden, is the swimming pool and jacuzzi. Enjoy pool-side lounging on the wooden deck which has a range of comfortable furniture. Take a break for drinks and snacks in the impressive pool-house, which has a kitchen and a sleeping area; or enjoy an outdoor meal from the gas barbecue. To truly pamper yourself go below the pool-house and really relax in your very own luxury steam room. Shower and toilet facilities are also located here.
The layout of the villa is a little complicated, as before the restoration a part of the building was a house while the other part was a stable. Now at the ground floor there are two fully equipped kitchens, a spacious lounge with vaulted ceiling and a formal dining area that can comfortably seat six people. Stairs from the lounge lead to a romantic double bedroom on a stunning mezzanine floor. Beyond the dining area is a small, beautiful bay-windowed conservatory in which you can relax, read or just take a nap. At the same floor there are two bathrooms and a twin bedroom with French door leading to a back yard. On the first floor there are a bathroom and a double bedroom with a private balcony. To the side of the property, in the pretty walled-garden, is the swimming pool and jacuzzi. Relaxing quiet location but close to beach and restaurants. Well equipped Villa with plenty of shaded terraces and great pool area

The property was extremely well presented and comprehensively equipped and the layout is ideal for a family or families with teenage children. The location is excellent, quiet enough and slighly off the beaten track although within a short walk of the beach, restauarants, local shops and supermarket. The owner Stella is extremely kind and left lovely gifts of local produce periodically throughout our stay, which was very much appreciated. The house is very well designed for relaxing by the pool with plenty of shade available in a number of areas around the property and the pool was great, as was the quality of the sunloungers and the fact that the towels and bedding were replaced regularly every few days by the maid were additional nice touches. The property is well located for Crete's Western beaches and is within easy reach of Chania and Rethmynon as well as Heraklion and Knossos, which are about 1.5hrs drive. For those who prefer more activity or night life the resort of Platanos is only a short 15min drive or bus ride away, where their are numerous shops and bars. This is our second visit to the island and the Chania area and we thoroughly enjoyed our time at the property...it just wasn't long enough!!! We had a very enjoyable stay in mid April before the tourist industry had really woken up in Crete. The house is light, airy, spacious well equipped and stylish, with very nice and very well maintained grounds including a citrus grove, nice pool and sunny and shady areas.
We arrived a bit early but were made very welcome by Stella, the owner and Sophia and were able to dump our luggage and sit by the pool while the cleaning and preparation were finished off. Stella appeared with a number of tasty treats during our stay and a leaving present which was very kind. We found a very generous welcome pack and the house was immaculate.
The location, on the edge of the village in an area mainly populated by locals, but with just a short walk to tavernas, bus stops and an excellent supermarket was ideal for us. Quiet, apart from the local dogs and cockerels but convenient. We spent a lot of time around the pool which is quite shallow and was a little chilly in April but very refreshing.
Maleme was very quiet but I imagine that in high season the edge of village location will be even more welcome if you are seeking peace and relaxation.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and felt that it was excellent value for such a lovely property.
