Lovely chilled holiday with friendly staff

My stay at Agava Lux was amazing. The staff were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. I also loved the location (I was about 30 seconds walk from the main restaurants). My room was incredibly clean and comfy and had all the facilities I could possibly need - the air con was a life saver in the heat. I also got vouchers to use for breakfast at a restaurant and the food here was so good.

The only thing that I didn’t like about the property was the steps up to my room, which in the 40 degree heat were a little bit hard to walk up. I also thought the name is a little misleading as you expect the pool to be at this complex but it is at the sister hotel which is a 5 minute walk away so I didn’t really mind when I got used to it.

A Wonderful Stay in Split!

The staff at the hotel were very friendly and welcoming. The room was cleaned daily and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The location was incredible as it is located in the heart of Split and was walking distance to all the shops, bars, and restaurants. It was also quiet at night. The pool space was great and only a short walk from our hotel.

The room was very good value for money. We got what we paid for and more. The only thing to mention is the room we stayed in was on the top floor of the hotel and so there were a lot of stairs to climb. Also, the hairdryer kept over heating so needs replacing.

A fabulous hotel with amazing staff!

The location was fantastic - so close to the centre and yet it was quiet of an evening and a really safe area. The pool was lovely and you could always get a sunbed. My husband became very ill while we were there and Philip on reception was fabulous. He called a doctor, arranged for a room for us even though we had checked out and organised a taxi back from the hospital for me. I would definitely recommend this place!

Amazing location, lovely pool and super comfortable clean rooms

Amazing little heritage hotel, super comfortable and clean and the most ideal location. I would love to stay again and would recommend it to all my friends. The pool area was a huge highlight and I didn’t mind it was two buildings at all. I was more than happy to do the short walk to the main building as it was in such a nice local spot. The pool always had sunbeds and the reception staff were super nice!

The housekeeper was pretty rude and I’m not sure why - I get the feeling she just didn’t like guests. She burst into my room without knocking one morning at 8:30am whilst I was still in bed, and then on the day of my check out banged on the door at 10:31am (no exaggeration) when check out was at 10:30am telling me to leave I was stood there behind the door holding the key with my bag on my back totally confused. Never experienced anything like that. Aside from that a perfect stay and I would have given it a 10/10.

The loft room was okay for a one-night stay, though not ideal, quite compact!

The location was fantastic

I stayed in a loft room, which was perfectly fine for a one-night stay. However, my experience was let down by the behavior of the cleaner. Checkout was at 10am (to the best of my memory), and just as I was opening the door to leave, on time, I was met with aggressive knocking and shouting, telling me to get out. As a solo traveler, this was quite unsettling and unnecessary. It really affected what was otherwise a decent stay.

Noisy neighbours in rooms with music blaring . 55 steep steps to our room. Pool is not at the apartment and breakfast is elsewhere. Room very basic for the money and definitely not luxury. Not as advertised and misleading. Didn’t even stay the night so wasted trip.

Very central to all amenities. Beds were comfortable and plenty of hot water for the shower.

The safe didn’t seem to work. There was no plug for the sink and the hairdryer timed out after a few minutes on full power.

Wouldn’t go back

The property was in a good location and seemed clean although we hardly spent any time there.

We initially booked the main hotel (Hotel Agava) for our honeymoon however they cancelled our booking only a few days before because they are greedy and over booked the rooms! 5 weeks on we are still waiting for a refund for that because the hotel refuse to reply to booking.com emails. We ended up booking this in a last minute panic to find a hotel. The room is tiny, the bathroom is smaller than my utility at home!! We could hardly move in it. There are LOTS of steps up to the third floor where our room was.

Avoid unless you are actually staying in this hotel

I booked to stay here BUT I did not stay here but I was allowed to use the pool. Breakfast although good is not near the Hotel (Brasserie on 7) on the promenade We also had another 2 days in split at the end of our Crotian holiday and at home in Ireland we thought we could book this hotel for them days, unfortunately it was booked, and we were disappointed but on hindsight we had a very lucky escape. Avoid unless you are actually staying in the hotel otherwise check yourself into your attic and be miserable and feel very duped.

Major Catfishing Alert. Booked “Agava Luxury Rooms and Pool” through booking.com, I’ve reread my invoice–yes that’s what I booked BUT I didn’t stay in this Hotel, I did not stay near this hotel. 1st time in Croatia, had late flight so decided to book a nice hotel before ferry the following morning to Hvar Told them the flight arrival and were there at 22.30–googled hotel address as per invoice and stood outside the dark & locked reception. I rang hotel to explain that we had arrived BUT we were told we were at the wrong place and a staff member would be with us soon. We waited, some hotel guests returned & offered to help, they also checked the booking form and offered to let is in to wait in reception as this was where we were staying. Waited 10 minutes before staff member arrived & walked over 5 minutes away up and down cobbled streets to accommodation which was not near the hotel we booked in to. Room was located in a building on the 4th floor which had other non-hotel tenants staying in it, it has very steep wooden stairs and no lift, these steep stairs are dangerous and in places not wide enough to support my foot (UK 6) in places the banister does not run the full flight of stairs so is in sections also dangerous. Staff member thankfully carried my bag up the rickety staircases and showed us into the room. The next morning I took my 2 pieces of luggage down in 2 runs as you need your full concentration and a strong steady free hand to negotiate this Khyber stair pass. It’s a small dormer room, with a sloping room adding to the claustrophobia with just enough walking room to move around the bed, room is dark with closed window shutters – bathroom is extremely pokey causing you to step back before opening door to exit so no Luxury here. There is an exposed stone wall, but top was not sealed so you can see that gap between it & the roof so that night I tried not to think of the army of creepy crawlies that could descend on me as I slept.
