We had a fantastic stay at Lizzie's Cottage in Northumberland, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. The cottage is beautifully presented, spotlessly clean, and finished to a very high standard. It has everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. The two bedrooms are spacious, with lovely oak wardrobes, extremely comfortable beds, and excellent-quality bed linen. The fluffy, crisp towels felt luxurious, and there is also an upstairs toilet and sink, which was very convenient. The bathroom was immaculate and thoughtfully stocked with quality shower gel and an air freshener. The kitchen was equally spotless and exceptionally well equipped, with everything needed for self-catering. We really appreciated all the little extras, including Marks & Spencer dishwasher tablets, washing machine tablets, cling film, tin foil, salt and pepper. The living and dining area was comfortable and welcoming, with a smart TV offering Netflix and other streaming apps, a cosy gas fire, and efficient central heating. Everything worked perfectly. Outside, the private garden is beautifully maintained, with comfortable seating, dining areas, and cushions—perfect for relaxing after a day exploring. There's also a washing machine tucked away under the stairs, and convenient parking at the rear of the cottage. We received a lovely welcome basket on arrival containing biscuits, local honey, jam, tea, coffee, and a pint of milk, which was a really thoughtful touch. We also met the owner, who was friendly and welcoming. The location is excellent—just 10 minutes from Holy Island, around 30 minutes from Bamburgh, and only 2½ miles from Marks & Spencer, Tesco, and Asda, making it an ideal base for exploring Northumberland. Everything about our stay was perfect. This is a genuine five-star cottage, and we would happily stay here again.

Lizzies Cottage accommodation is lovely, clean, everything one needs, quiet & extremely comfortable. Parking is good & tge cottage is very close to the NE Coast sights & to Scotand.

Unfortunately, our safety & security in the property was compromised, once & likely twice. This situation is now in the hands of the Northumberland Police at Berwick Police Station where we visited & have since had further communication. We would have wished to stay at Lizzies or perhaps Monas Cottage in the future, as trips up to the North East will be more frequent. However, due to our privacy violation we will not stay again & have told various friends to avoid booking there. I have my suspicions how the property was entered so to avoid CCTV as I investigated the property & garden thoroughly. Apparently, only the Host & ourselves, the Guest, had keys to what is called the back door, where one parks one's car. We are extremely pedantic about our security, are experienced travellers & did not leave any doors unlocked. Had we done so we would have been horrified on our return from our outing. Also, an item of hair equipment in a bedroom drawer had been taken, & exchanged for the same brand though a broken one. This item most definately is not mine as it had features different to mine. Mine was working the night before I found the broken one the following morning. No other items were displaced or taken. Thie item in question is not the issue. However, this situation is extremely serious in that someone entered as said definately once, though on the balance of probabilities twice, without our knowledge, uninvited & had obviously gone through our personal items by opening drawers. Security when one is staying in any kind of accommodation is paramount, & one should have trust & confidence in the knowledge one is safe & no other person would enter the accommodation during one's stay without prior knowledge, agreement or invitation. My moral character & integrity has to be honest here to make an awareness for those who may consider booking Lizzies Cottage.
