Our stay at this property was ok, but not the best choice for a family. We chose the property thinking it would be cute country cottages, but it’s a big house with multiple rooms and quite noisy with other guests coming and going. We thought the restaurant onsite would be convenient, but it’s fine dining with set multi-course gourmet meals. That doesn’t work well with tired children and so we didn’t eat there. We also didn’t have breakfast, as it only starts at 0730 and we had booked early park entry. I’m not sure we could have justified £24 per person for the children to eat a piece of toast. Prior to checking in we received multiple messages about booking dinner/breakfast. The whole thing felt like a huge upsell and there was a weird vibe with the ?owners who sat at reception and completely ignored us when they heard we weren’t adding on meals. There was also some nonsense where we had to pay the £4 tax on card as they didn’t have change, but the £3 bottle of water must be paid in cash that somehow they then had change for. It was all very strange. Mae, who works at the front desk, was very friendly and went out of her way to be helpful, but this just wasn’t a good fit for us.
I honestly expected much more based on reviews, which influenced our decision to book. However I think the reviews are falsely elevated, as we received multiple requests to rate the property 10/10 on everything.

Such a beautiful place to stay. I highly highly recommend. Everything was so clean and welcoming. But the best part was Mae, Ruel and Loisa were so wonderful and accommodating. Ruel is a wonderful Chef. And Mae was such a delight! While Loisa is keeping the place absolutely spotless. Don’t hesitate and book this place during your visit to Plivitic Lakes.
