The Warwick lodge

Location. Close to everywhere we wanted to visit.

The property needs some TLC. I had to screw the door handle securely to make the key lock. The carpet tracker is broken, my granddaughter caught her foot on it and we had to cover the gap with tape to solve the problem. Shower, and the water runs out from under the bath, this is in the main bathroom not the en-suite. Excellent hot tub. The kitchen units were “sticky” and needed a really good clean by my wife. WiFi signal is non existent but tbh that didn’t really bother us. It’s a potentially lovely property but for over £950 for 5 days is a tad too much . Parking was also an issue, we had two cars but so did the adjacent bungalows so who parks where? No hen or stag parties are allowed but that can only be in our property as there were certainly other lodges with all male or all female occupancy. The clubs for a beer are ok. Oh and the pictures on the site are misleading, it’s impossible to see the river from the lodge. There’s other things I could add but I’ll leave it there. A tin of paint and a brush wouldn’t go amiss.

Lovely spacious lodge, had everything we needed for 4 nights. We especially enjoyed the hot tub and appreciated having a lovely soak after our busy days touring the Northumberland coast every evening. Bockenfield was a lovely park, we liked walking around near the pond and feeding the ducks and geese. Very quiet at night, no noisy neighbours etc and it was very family oriented. The staff at the Crazy Horse pub were all very friendly and the food was nice, we enjoyed participating in the pub quiz one night 😊 The owners left us a welcoming gift of wine and cookies which was such a thoughtful gesture.

WiFi wasn’t great, but you’re out in the countryside so not unexpected. We brought books and enjoyed a few card games so we didn’t suffer too much 😉 The only thing that wasn’t too lovely was the smell coming from the nearby drain, which is nothing to do with the lodge itself or the owners but just an unfortunate proximity of the lodge’s location to the drain. We were out every day so it wasn’t really noticeable until we got in the hot tub on an evening.

The property was very comfortable. It was a fab location too as it is close to a lot of places we wanted to visit. My son loved the hot tub too. Also, the staff at both the bars on site were friendly.
