Our host was really friendly and helpful in supporting our late arrival, he moved his own car to give us a public bay right outside the doors which was really kind, especially with two sleeping children. The room was fine for our one night stay before catching the ferry first thing. The central location was great to get ahead of the queues if catching the ferry, but be warned that many of the routes from the property to the port are deliberately blocked to prevent short cuts through the town.
The room was warm (it was a heatwave!), but otherwise comfortable and I believe there were fans if needed. The nearby trains do make the house rubble from time to time which initially makes you wonder what the noise is and the presence on the main road might be some can't keep the windows open if you are sensitive to the odd bit of traffic and chatter from passing people. I would say our one night rate was on the high side for the room and not the best value as breakfast was extra, but perhaps comparable to other hotels in the area during peak season for a family of four.

The Norman Guest house is literally just a flight of steps away from the Dover Priory station, which was exactly what we needed for a quick stay the night before our cruise departure. We were sad we only got to stay the night because the B&B was adorable and so well suited for a longer stay in historic Dover. The host was absolutely lovely and made sure we had everything we needed.

The proprietor was super nice and have full.
Dover in and of itself is not a very nice place. The part of town where the guest house is located, is pretty noisy and dirty. One of the neighbors was coughing and shouting in his garden at night. Sleeping with open windows was impossible. The guest house itself is very old and very cheaply furnished. It’s OK for a night but no more.
