Dover Priory Hotel

Very close to ferries. Even closer to rail station - almost touching distance. Private car parking a big plus.

No issues for basic sleep. There were no facilities in my single room (separate loo and bath) but that was known. Hotel is being refurbished so scaffolded and a construction site.

There was not breakfast. The hotel was under major renovation.

The front door didn't have a handle. There was scaffolding top to bottom and all around. I didn't mind that except that it actually looked closed for renovation. My train arrived after check in time and I couldn't find the hotel clerk/manager so I thought it was closed for renovation. I walked all around the hotel looking for signs of life but I didn't find anyone. Another train passenger got an email to contact him, otherwise I don't think I would have gotten in. In a million years I wouldn't think to check my email the day of my stay since I always expect to see someone at the front desk. The hotel manager was very nice and carried my luggage up many steps. The bedding was modern and very comfortable. I loved how I could open the window and let the fresh, cool air in. There was no internet so my phone using a sim card wouldn't work nor my computer. The bathroom situation was shared but I didn't mind that. I never saw anyone else use it. The price was VERY right which I appreciated for a one night stay only.

I got an upgrade with an on suite bathroom and two extra empty beds. Easy to find just across from the railway station and you cant ask for any more value for money imo.
