A friendly welcome, a good breakfast, free onsite parking and an affordable room. Tewkesbury is a lovely little town and the Abbey Hotel is a slightly quirky old building in the town which provides a great place to stay.

Very central for what we needed
Nothing all good

Breakfast
So old and in need of an update - no investment for a long time !
Freezing in breakfast room
No heating in bathroom
Staircase collapsing
Dirty cobwebbed windows
Should not be the image the UK gives to tourists - is this Tewkesbury B and B at its best ??

There was dust on the shelf in the wardrobe which transferred onto my partner's clothes and on the windowsills

Very nice place and quite deceiving in size. Period property with loads of character and only a walk away from all you could need.

Great location. Staff very friendly. We loved the old fashioned decor, though probably not to everyone’s taste. Italian Restaurant contained within the hotel, albeit a separate business, but very good.

Superb location. A few minutes walk to the city. Free car park and breakfast are a bonus. An additional heater in the room. Tea, coffee maker.
The mattress was not super comfy to me. Windows are not soundproof. However, this should be excused since the building is centuries old.

It was reasonably clean and tidy. The location was good for us, the breakfast was very nice. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I loved the tea making facilities in their own little compartment of the wardrobe.
The room really needs updating the bathroom needs some tlc and a good extra clean, the toilet and shower were clean but the rest of the room could do with some attention. The oil radiator in the room had 2 broken wheels so moving it was difficult.

We needed to amend our booking on the morning of our arrival, as our grandson was to join us at short notice. So we contacted the hosts and requested if they had a family room available, and Brian and Lorna went out of their way to accommodate our needs. They were indeed lovely hosts. The room was great, for some, maybe a little dated. Still, since it’s a very old building (we read the deeds displayed outside our room, which dated back to 1645), we actually loved this aspect of the hotel and appreciated all the original features. It was lovely, cosy, warm, and a fabulous location. It had everything we might need. There was some traffic noise as it overlooked the main road, but this is clearly stated in the description and wasn’t a problem for us. Parking was available, and they allowed us to use the car park beyond our stay to attend a carol service! The breakfast was freshly prepared with plenty of options to suit all. We decided to forgo the cereals, yoghurt and fresh fruit, opting for a cooked Full English, which was delicious—many thanks. We would definitely return.
We were happy with all aspects of our stay.

Nothing, other than it was a place to put my head down.
The floorboards squeak! Everytime a person in the room above moved, or someone walked in the corridor there were squeaks and squelches. The great sound of toilet flushes from above were another great feature.
The whole place needs refurbishment. The breakfast was ok, however they'd apparently run out of eggs and instead of reciving 2 as per other people and the menu stated, I received 1 egg and a mushy, greasy potato thing instead. I wasn't told in advance, the plate just turned up. In general, I was somewhat overlooked as a single traveller, service being concentrated on those in groups or couples.......Parking was difficult, the car park has very limited spaces and isn't easy to get a wide or long vehicle into. Get there early otherwise you'll find yourself parking in a public carpark down the street.

Great location in the centre of Tewkesbury for accessing the town. The free onsite parking was also very useful.
A friendly welcome from the staff when checking in.
The room was clean and tidy, with a modern, good sized bathroom, which served me very well for a one night stay.
Breakfast was good.
Some noise from the road, as the hotel is located on a main route through the town centre. This was easily resolved with my earplugs.

Good location. Room small and lacking tlc but clean and warm. Choice of time for breakfast was from 7.30 to 8.30 only, which was too early for us after a few hours exploring, followed by an evening out, so unable to comment on the food.

Excellent value for money, I highly recommend this welcoming hotel. Warm room. Cozy eclectic decor, attractive old building. Free parking. A great cooked breakfast. Nice hosts… all for £50 and I only booked five days in advance! I couldn’t believe it. Thank you
The rest of the hotel, other than my very nice room, was a bit stinky

The breakfast was quite good.
The bed wasn’t very comfortable which was exacerbated by the novel use of pancakes for pillows. I had the worst nights sleep i have had in a long time. Just to note that I have no difficulty in sleeping almost anywhere, however, The Abbey Hotel was a different order. Not only was the bed uncomfortable but the wind howled around the building all night. Added to which the hanging sign outside the out window creeped noisily all night. There was also a woman crying outside the room during most of the night. I opened the door on a couple of occasions to see if she was ok t each time she had gone from the passageway. The road on which the hotel is located was very busy with traffic continuing late into the night and beginning early in the morning. If you are a light sleep (or even a heavy sleeper) then this may not be the place for you. My wife too slept poorly which meant she was awake very early and moving around the room which had extremely creaky floorboards and further disturbed my sleep. One interesting feature of the hotel was a well covered with reinforced glass in the middle of the breakfast room. Interesting but weird.

A last-minute overnight booking which was hospitably accommodated by Brian, Lorna and team. Handy parking on site. Comfortable room on the first floor. Dog was well-catered for. The hotel is right in the heart of town, which meant that despite a relatively late arrival time, I was able to find decent pub grub at the Bell nearby (there is a restaurant on-site but dog meant alternative arrangements were required) Both the meadows behind the Abbey and the Severn Ham are a short stroll away for a lovely amble.
If your idea of a boutique hotel is gleaming chrome reception desks, health spas on site, and lift doors that ping on opening before swooshing you up to a penthouse suite, you're probably in the wrong place (there is no lift, for one thing)
The building may be a little tired in places (e.g. doors & paintwork) but the bedroom itself was spotlessly clean and the location & hospitality more than makes up for any minor cosmetic issues

Excellent location across from the Abbey, close to the town and handy for walks in the area. Appreciated the on site parking. Made very welcome by Brian on arrival who had been easy to contact. Staff very friendly and an excellent breakfast. Our room was large, and with a comfortable bed.
This is an old building and therefore it is quirky and individual and part of its charm - not a modern hotel. Inevitably much harder to maintain but nevertheless comfortable.

Breakfast was excellent and great restaurant just next door.
Hotel's a bit well-worn
