Quirky, central location, free parking, helpful staff
Set price for breakfast (£15.00) even if you just wanted a bacon sandwich.
Opted for full English which was great, so didn’t really make me dislike stay

Location; friendly staff; nice bar area; interesting building.
Bathroom in a ‘deluxe’ room way too small; cooked breakfast average at best; joining instructions did not mention location of car park; generally quite a tired feel.

Staff where excellent , helpful , reception , bar and in the restaurant . Full of character, floors are very creaky but to be expected for the age of the building . Location is great if you don't fancy eating on site there's lots of options along the high street. Stayed with work would definitely stay again and soon hopefully
Car park is down a very narrow street next to the hotel , with limited spaces . Not a negative just be aware , more than adequate on street parking near by . if you're staying with work and a single occupancy , i had limited desk space in the single room - not an issue as very comfortable downstairs .

Beautiful room and facilities, staff very helpful
Room above kitchen is ok if you are a heavy sleeper. If not , it’s not great at 6am. Broken secondary double glaze window in room was a little disconcerting and needs replacing.

Ideal location near the theatre we were going to and the main street.
Lovely decor especially the paintings in hotel.
Wonderful atmosphere.

Everything, beautiful hotel, oldy worldy, impeccably clean, facilities modern without changing the structure of this Tudor aged building. Couldn't rate it better.
The evening meal I chose wasn't especially great and portions were a bit small. However, everyone else in my party enjoyed their meals .

Fabulous location, and the building is amazing, full of character. The bedroom was large and very comfortable bed, with plenty of room for the dogs. Breakfast was plentiful with a very good choice of food.
The only thing that would have made it perfect would have been the option of a bath (there was only a shower).

Friendly staff - we really flexible with parking in the morning so we could have a mooch around the time.
My wife felt the mattresses were uncomfortable but that is always a matter of preference. Perhaps it is my wife I didn't like.

I booked this quite last minute as a stop off on route to our ultimate destination and for the price I was expecting a nice but adequate room. What I got was a giant space that felt like something out of Blenheim, Howard Castle or Stowe. A trully beautiful room with touches to make your stay enjoyable and a bathroom and bath especially to make anyone smile. The staff were freindly and the building itself is bursting with charm! If im close, we will be stopping once more.
Left intentionally blank!

Feels like a home from home. I stay there frequently for work and always get a very warm welcome from the friendly staff
If you have a lot of bags just be aware that there is no lift.

Loved the building and the decor, it was gorgeous.
Would have appreciated a lamp in the room. 4 ceiling spot lights are quite stark in a small room. Plenty of plugs and space on side table and desk so no reason not to have one. Didn’t wake me up but once I was awake I could hear pigeons cooing and scuttling around right above me in the roof space which would make me want to request a non second floor room if I stayed again.

My room was really quiet. Loved the automatic night light that comes on under the basin in the bathroom when you go in. Great dinner and excellent breakfast. Staff very helpful. Liked the different spaces we could use if like us you wanted to play a game of scrabble.
We nearly didn’t get a parking spot at the back of the hotel.

The staff especially the assistant manager was soo kind I had muddled my booking as was day late, I was very tired after a long and difficult journey she told me not worry put me in an upgraded room till she sorted it then looked after me during dinner

The room for the price we paid was wonderful … lovey touches like a coffee machine .. lavender pillow spray … water next to the bed … it was lovely
The restaurant lets the hotel down … had the pork dinner … it was warm not hot .. the crackling would have broke your tooth and there was hardly any gravy … staff don’t come over to ask if it was ok so didn’t get the chance to order more gravy … the sticky toffee pudding came cold and was sent back

The room was lovely, the staff very friendly and welcoming. The bed was very comfy and there were some nice decorative touches. The food was lovely, breakfast was really nice, calm and cosy atmosphere. The radio in the bedroom was a nice touch.
Some of the wallpaper was peeling, which is not unexpected for an older property. The bathroom was nice, but more functional as it was accessible, but the door didn't close easily as it had swollen from moisture. Unfortunately the parking was full when I arrived so it took a while to try to park, then ended up on the high street.

Beautiful hotel with many original features. We had a dog friendly room which was right next to exit, ideal for toilet runs. This room was lovely and clean no doggy smells at all.
We ate in the bar area which is warm and welcoming. Food was very nice and all staff were friendly and efficient.
We liked all of it but car park is small so fills up quickly .
Not a problem for us but might be for later check ins.

Breakfast was lovely and location.
The room was dirty, lots of cobwebs in the bedroom and bathroom had lots of mould on the glass and seals. Glass doors need a good scrub.
I tried to ask reception to call or ask the room above to turn down the TV or room radio as the noise was overwhelming. Reception cut me off 4 or 5 times so give up. It was raining so didn’t fancy getting up and walking through the courtyard/car park to get to reception. So annoying and I don’t know why they couldn’t pick up the phone to help. There is a 24hr night porter too. Shame.

Noisy extraction fan directly below our room disturbed us 06:00 hrs. Kitchen?

Wonderful food! The menu was truly exceptional. We wanted to stay for more nights to try every dish!
Lovely bar, restaurant and atmosphere, but the room decoration was a little on the fussy side.

Our room was a really good size, well furnished and very quiet as it was on the back of the property. Good view too.
Our room needed some serious dusting to get it clean. The radio and radiator were extremely dusty and the bathroom floor was very dusty around the edges.
Also, by the time we were eating at 6pm, several menu options had run out.

Unfortunately the weather was very hot so insulation in old building was not so good to keep it cool although fan provided in room
