Residenza Cavallini

The area called Vaticano Prati where it is located is close to the Vatican, Castel Santa'Angelo, Piazza Navona, Panteon via Ponte Cavour. As I knew the area and bus network near Piazza Cavour, my stay was strategically perfect to explore the city. Carlos and the staff are very friendly and helpful to Local trattoria and pizza restaurants are very good.

Unfortunately the TV in the room didn't work.

Air con which in the heatwave was very much needed. The bed was very comfortable, fridge was used a lot and stayed nice and chilled.

Room a bit small

Very good location, and easy check-in, with very easy instructions for self check-in at night. Breakfast was fine, and very easy to get to, with free coffee. Good shared balcony for enjoying the sun. Reception was great. Cool antique lift to get up to the hotel.

This is basically the private-room hostel experience, at a not so budget-friendly cost. Everything was very neglected and ill-maintained, which is fine and expected for a hostel, but that's not what you expect from the images, price and description. Painted-over mold in the bathroom, because ventilation is very bad. Central AC blowing 26 degree air, so our room was constantly too hot. Generic hand-soap for the shower. Mattresses were beginning to fall apart, and the faux-leather couch was sticky, run-down and had cigarette holes. Cleaning looked very rushed and/or lacking, except only for the beds. At a lower price, it would definitely be an ok place to stay if you want to experience Rome for a couple of days.
