Staying at Casa Luz was the perfect couple getaway! The location was wonderful, with a stunning view of the ocean and nearby islands, amenities were very nice and the staff was very friendly and helpful.
I honestly expected the pool to be a bit bigger, but was still very nice.

This place is amazing and magical. You are in the direct contact with nature, but still in perfectly designed room with materials honest to their purpose and in line with nature. (so it is not in the city). Beach, pool and yoga room are just in few steps. People working there are caring, helpful and nice. Breakfast is one of the nicest we had, but would also recommend having dinner there

Wonderful hotel. Built on the side of the mountain slopping to the sea. We listened to the sea at night. Very romantic. Very beautiful. Breakfast was amazing. We also enjoyed the monkeys right outside our terrace.

The location was gorgeous, the staff were really lovely and helpful with everything we needed. The restaurant was exceptional--Michelin-star level cuisine, made with locally sourced ingredients, very reasonably priced, and the dishes we tried were unlike anything I'd tasted before. Just stunning. My partner and I were on our honeymoon and the staff had left us a complimentary bottle of champagne, a personal note, and delicious handmade chocolate in the room, for the occasion. We appreciated the care and attention so much and we had the most amazing honeymoon. We can't wait to go back to Casa Luz. We also booked in for a couples massage, which was absolutely brilliant. We are both picky and particular when it comes to massage/physical therapy and we were really impressed, as well as healed, by the experience.
The main difficulty with Casa Luz is physical accessibility: it is easy enough to get a taxi to drive you from Paraty bus station or centre to the hotel, but to actually reach the reception desk, you have to either walk or get a lift down their extremely steep and windy driveway. The hotel was amazingly helpful and they had a valet pick us up from the top of the driveway and drive us down; he also carried our suitcase to our room. This all worked perfectly well for us as an able-bodied couple. However, if you struggle with your mobility, note that there is no way to navigate this property with a wheelchair or if you cannot handle stairs.

So unique perched on the hill with its own little beach and gorgeous views, wonderful, friendly and thoughtful, helpful staff and owner, clean room with good AC and peaceful balcony overlooking the ocean. Unique food experiences. Quick taxi ride to Paraty town. My friends and I highly recommend Casa Luz Paraty.
I cannot think of anything.

Quiet, beside the beach, monkeys!
Restaurant food was really expensive and not versatile.
Food was very small portions for breakfast and lunch.
Resort has a private beach but the sunshine left the beach at 10am leaving it shady for the rest of the day (June)
Also very far from any shops to buy basic necessities.

Location on a little nook of the coast, with a beautiful view of the ocean and the rocky shoreline. Kind, attentive service.
Overpriced. No coffee/tea service in the rooms. Water in cans in the minibar (supposedly for environmental reasons, but really just to charge even for water). Breakfast options stale and lacking in flavor (flaky tapiocas, no fruits). Not much privacy in any of the two rooms booked (one just behind the reception, the other under the restaurant, both noisy while the establishment is operating). Property located on a curve of a busy highway, with no curbside, making the access dangerous. Parking area reachable through a dangerously steep ramp.

Perfect breakfast and a fantastic restaurant. It is a bit far frem Paraty, but the location is perfect, if your are looking for a peaceful place with great views of the sea and islands.
It it is quite steep - but it is worth it.

The food was exceptional and the view was beautiful
location was out of town and taxis were a bit of a pain to get (but we were there during a literacy festival so slightly unusual)

The location is paradise. Staff made us feel like home. In particular, the gastronomic tour around the property with the chef Rafael and Fernando, learning about the Atlantic forest vegetation and then eating what we collected in amazing dishes created by chef Morente was from another planet.
Breakfast was just incredible, the sounds of cicadas at sunrise and sunset, their cocktails creations, the local art one can see on their walls, the beach, the power of nature.
That we couldn’t stay longer due to work related reasons.

We actually spent 2 other nights cause we loved the place
We’ve tried different kinds of rooms, the cabana that is in the Jungle, the Bungalow & the usual room in the mansion.
We loved the fact that you feel totally under the nature but feel safe in a good bed during night.
Each rooms got a terrace so you can spend time listening to nature & sea
The food of the restaurant is super good breakfast & others
The staff is very reactive to everything and very kind
I recommend 1000% to spend time in this paradise
Thanks for everything
The rooms are very humid but in general all the hotels we’ve been arround was humid like that so I know it’s not the fault of the hotel itself
In the bungalow there was bed bugs, the cost to be in the middle of the jungle I guess ..
The swimming pool got only 4 beds so we can not really use it
In general we LOVE this place and felt like home ♥️

Private beach, restaurant inside the premises, beautiful view
A little far from town, restaurant and other services inside are expensive. Garage is a little difficult to access and smaller cars have trouble getting out when it rains, and may have you unable to leave

This hotel is located in the nature - fantastic view to the sea, small private beach and a very relaxed stuff. We enjoyed every minute there - starting with a breakfast packed with great food. Also the bar invites the guests to have a sundowner or whatever included by spectacular views.
The ramp down to the hotel doesn't fit to a conventional car - you should come by SUV to make the way down...

Breakfast was great, and staff were very friendly. We also hired a kayak to go to a neighbouring island and back, which was wonderful. One of the biggest highlights was their yoga studio, which they allowed us to use early in the mornings, and had a wonderful ocean view.
Their parking lot is very inconvenient, with a steep narrow downhill path. Having to leave the car keys at reception and do a mini car inspection to ensure they don't damage your car was also inconvenient. The restaurant next door (owned by the same owners) had really interesting foods, but was way overpriced, with several items costing double the costs of their equivalents in the (already overpriced) Paraty old town center. As an example, an Argentinian pasty was selling for R$17.00 at the hotel, where the same could be bought at in the town center for R$8.00. The portions were also not very generous. Also, the boat tours were ranging from R$900 to nearly R$2000/ day. We were able to go to the old town centre, and teamed up with a couple to only pay R$200/couple, so a bit of shopping is well worth it.

Everything was amazing! The view is breathtaking. I just wish I could have stayed one more week.

beautiful setting with a private beach and beyond incredible views. Food in the restaurant is fantastic as is restaurant staff. pm pousada staff and female staff particularly attentive and helpful.
Drive down to parking area is steep, narrow and difficult. There were always workers at the top of the driveway or in the actual parking area that leaned their stuff on our car and took their time moving their bags of trash and their cars so we could leave. Half blocked the driveway and expected guests to maneuver around them. Very rude and dismissive. Not sure how they can charge so much when there is construction and workers interfering with the serenity of the place. We had one of the less expensive rooms which was below the dining area and got noisy at times. Stairs to the room are steep and poorly lighted. Although billed as a quiet child-limited place, it is not. Stairs to the beautiful and private beach are very steep so not suitable for the elderly, infirm or impetuous. on the plus side, beautiful greenery and birds, and the beach is very nice.
