Superb restaurant where we celebrated our anniversary and breakfast also excellent Lovely family run hotel with care

Despite a power cut to the whole town, a lovely hot meal was prepared and we consumed it by a battery powered table lamp. We were then helped to our room in the dark by the proprietor with another of these lamps which he left with us.

There are not that many restaurants that still produce traditional cooking/meals with an overall traditional restaurant experience- we had a lovely time here. There was a good range of meals to choose from with an extensive selection of wines to suit all pockets. The bedrooms were not large but were very clean and presentable and functional for short stays. Staff were very pleasant and professional. This privately run restaurant with rooms is a real gem and should be snatched up before it's gone, like so many other such businesses.

Pillows and duvet need upgrading. Sausage was more chipolata than sausage in the breakfast and only getting half a slice of black pudding was disappointing. The bathroom was freezing and tiny.
