Messy comms between bakery & restaurant. Service in restaurant is slow when seated "around the corner" where staff doesnt see you. Waited a long time and just left so could have lunch in Arenahotel in amsterdam

Staff really is incredibly friendly and helpful! The breakfast buffet is the best we EVER had, simply amazing! Very clean, everything is beautifully arranged, organised and decorated. They really thought of everything.

Nothing - service was terrible
To whom it may concern,
During a recent trip to Holland, we booked a Comfort Suite (27m²) through the usual booking app — a standard routine for us. As frequent guests, we didn’t think twice. Admittedly, we forgot to indicate that we were travelling as a family of four (two adults and two children, aged 3 and 8). Upon arrival, I informed the reception that we were four in total.
What followed was nothing short of embarrassing and infuriating. The duty manager, Iris, was called over and instead of offering a warm welcome or a practical solution, she repeated no less than four times that I had booked incorrectly and that this "should not happen again." Her tone was condescending and completely out of line — as if I had done something unacceptable or tried to cheat the system. Then came the patronizing conclusion: “But we’ll let it go this time.”
Excuse me? Is this really how paying guests are greeted at a hotel that charges €170 for a single night?
I was so taken aback by this bizarre “scolding” that I returned to the desk to ask for clarification. This time, I was told it was due to fire department regulations. Again, I was left dumbfounded. I’ve stayed in similar rooms numerous times at other hotels (often at this exact chain), and in those cases, they simply provided an extra bed for the children (naturally, for an extra fee). At no point was such an option even offered here. Just repeated finger-wagging.
As you can imagine, this experience completely ruined the start of our stay. I was left angry and irritated for hours, and even wrote a message to the hotel that has yet to receive any response.
The following morning, I shared my dissatisfaction with the new duty manager. I told her that my experience was dreadful. Her reply? That the feeling was "likewise."
Unbelievable.

The hotel room is very nice & clean.
The restaurant staff should be well trained for a 4 star hotel. Overall, the staff seemed „unhappy“ having guests. When you greet them, they barely respond or none at all (they are looking with no expressions on their faces). The only happy people are the housekeeping.

The hotel is a lovely establishment with lovely clean rooms. We were on the ground floor which had a private terrace onto the front on the hotel entrance.
The little coffee shop sell the most delicious bakeries and other essentials which is a lovely asset to the hotel. We didn’t opt for breakfast so this was really helpful during our stay.
There’s free parking available around the hotel, you just need to validate your parking ticket at the hotel reception.
A big shout out to front desk officer Iris who was really helpful and warm.
The cleaning staff did a good job with plenty of clean towels replenished but the toilet brush was left in the toilet (I’m sure in haste).
The hotel is not far from scheveningen beach - a short 10 mins drive. It’s really a lovely sandy beach with plenty of restaurants, souvenir shops and a mall. You can opt for a cheap kibbling meal or a sit down meal at the restaurants.
Just a small observation that whilst I was requesting for housekeeping to come to my room to clean whilst we were out, a member of the front desk had asked me to return to my room to put the wooden sign on the door when this could be easily done by her simply asking the housekeeping to clean the room from front desk. It’s just customer hospitality… to make your customers feel happy and at ease. Upon my request she noted it on the computer but she seemed a bit annoyed having done so.

The bedroom and bathroom were perfect.
The housekeeping were very slow to clean the room, not cleaning it until nearly 6pm.
Our seating area was in adjacent to the car park and was filled with cigarette butts and McDonald’s bags.

The hotel is being rebuilt, and they warn that at the moment it is a bit of a construction site, but that was no problem at all for us. We had a large room on the ground floor which was nice as there are no elevators just now (I'm sure they will be back soon, but check if you are booking in 2023 and you need one). Breakfasts were good, and the hotel dining room was a fine place for dinner. When our plans changed and we stayed an extra three days the hotel staff were very accommodating in finding a room for us. The location is great if you are driving to mutliple places in Holland as we were, but it is not walking distance to anything. That said, the village of Wassenaar is a nearby delight, and you can enjoy walks in the dunes and a lunch or dinner by the seaside in nearby Scheveningen, Wassenaar or Katwijk ann Zee.

The rooms were spacious and clean, the hotel has a homey feeling, everything was running ok, despite it being in full renovation/expansion mode (we slept Fri to Sat so no works going on). Convenient next to road. It's being renovated (spring 2023), so the surroundings are not nice for the time being. Breakfast was rich and good.

Property under construction is challenging, not able to cool room under 18C as the room do not have actual ac but get heated/cooled through a central unit. Construction starts at 7 AM

Yes, the hotel is being renovated but this doesn’t impact in your stay. Hotel staff were very friendly more so on our arrival rather than departure. The food at the hotel was absolutely amazing, good value too.

The room was perfect to spend the nights during a work-related stay. I especially liked the renovated bathroom and the wonderful breakfast.
Besides that, it is convenient to have "The Mall of The Netherlands" so close for evening meals.
The parking wasn't very handy, but I'm sure that this is only a temporary thing because of the renovations to the hotel.
