Farthing Cottage

The cottage is well placed for Norwich and the coast, and having the fantastic Brick Kilns pub opposite, with lovely staff and a fantastic menu, including vegetarian/vegan options, was even better! The beds were comfy, as was the sofa, and the lovely wooden furniture is very appealing. The parking was very good.

There needs to be more cutlery, especially teaspoons, and a couple of baking / pizza trays would be good, as well as a pizza cutter. There is no jug for gravy, no teapot, except a single person one, and no kitchen roll. The mugs are quite small, so we often had to make a second drink each. There also should either be more than 1 toilet roll in each toilet, or make it clear that is all you supply, as our first task was to find a shop to get more. It would be lovely to see pictures of the area on the walls, such as the coast, the Broads, Norwich cathedral, windmills, etc, rather than the very strange ones that don't seem in keeping with this lovely little cottage. It would also be useful to have guidance on what can be recycled, as councils work differently around the country.

Great location. Very clean and everything as expected from the photos. Hot tub was great, and it was in a lovely little suntrap garden space. Hosts were next door, but didn't need/see them. We would love to return.

Lack of downstairs toilet but really didn't affect too much as 2 en suites upstairs

Lovely accommodation with everything that's needed for a stay of 5 days. Location was great for the town of Norwich and exploring the coast.

Unfortunately the pub next door was closed on Mondays which was when we were going to eat. However it didn't spoil our visit.

Clean and well presented, Farthing Cottage is slightly smaller than one would expect from the online photographs. The hot tub and seating out area were used and enjoyed. There is ample off-road parking. The bedrooms and ensuites were comfortable and clean.

The kitchen has a small fridge (with iced -up icebox) and there is another in the utility room that we had to turn on. The cutlery, crockery and glasses are sufficient for 4 at one sitting; and they do fit into the half-sized dishwasher. The microwave in the utility room (we assume because of the limited counter space in the kitchen) either didn’t work or we couldn’t get it to work without instructions. As highlighted in another review, there was a scarcity of additional kitchen items such as salt, pepper, oils etc. and the washing up liquid was diluted with only enough for a couple of washes in the sink. Although we had brought our own supplies (and arranged a Tesco delivery) these deficiencies were all overcome by a quick trip to the local Sainsbury’s. Although the bedrooms and ensuites were comfortable and clean, in the larger (2 bed) bedroom, other than a clothes rail attached to the wall and a desk with a shelf, there was minimal furniture for clothing: most of our stayed in the suitcase on the floor.
