Lovely stay in the wilds of Wicklow.
We had a fantastic stay here, wish now it had been for longer than one night! Stayed with my partner and our hound. Hosts are very welcoming, breakfast is delicious, comfortable rooms and beautiful grounds to explore. Very dog friendly! We will be back.

It felt like we were in a Hollywood movie!
Sean and Patricia were the best! We had dinner there as well, and it was incredible. It was the highlight of our 1 month stay in Ireland. Some of the kindest and most interesting people on or trip.
Absolutely nothing. I wish we would have had a couple additional nights. The grounds are stunning.

Will definitely repeat the stay next time we are in Ireland.
This home and property is such a special place. Our walk about upon arrival was a highlight of our trip-the bridge and waterfall, wow! Such a cool historic home. Reading by the fire after a trip to the lovely pub about 15 minutes away was a delight.
The mattress was a bit wonky.

A memorable and magical experience.
An extraordinary house, the most comfortable bed we've ever slept in. Exceptionally good breakfasts, and wonderful hosts. We really enjoyed meeting the other guests, many of whom were young hikers on the Wiklow Trail.
Hard to think of anything.

Ballyteige Lodge is a delightful respite in co. Wicklow
We liked nearly everything: The owner Sean, the history of the 1890 house and estate, the quiet sizable suites with blackout curtains, (though no ensuite baths), the hike around the 20 acre estate, the 2 donkeys, the simple and delicious breakfast, and getting to meet others on holiday. Also, the GMO Free status.
The estate is a little tricky to find without GPS. Look for the GMO Free Zone sign just after the entrance gate.

Great place, terrific host. Sean is a great guy
Beautiful former hunting lodge, a building with lots of character.
It was so nice the house the suspension bridge across the street into the forest with a waterfall. And the huge concrete plunge pool along side the river. Made me very envious. I don’t usually covet other people’s stuff. BUT
I wish I owned that place!!!

Really wonderful experience.Gorgeous house and gardens .Felt like we had stepped back in time .
Beautiful house,high standard accommodation.
Printed map would have been a wise choice on our part as cannot rely on Google map in such isolated area .

Amazing host, beautiful lodge, sensational donkey
Fantastic host, welcoming, thoughtful, and caring. The lodge itself is stunning and surrounded by nature, including a 10/10 donkey who likes an ear scratch. Everything was perfect and I could have stayed much longer.

Absolutely charming property run by delightful owners
Lovely remote location; ideal for walkers; our small dog was made very welcome; superbly comfy beds; fine linen & towels.
We knew this before booking so not a problem for us but if anyone can’t do stairs it’s not the right place as the 2 shared bathrooms (one with a bath, the other with a shower) are on a different level across the hallway - depending on which of the fabulous bedrooms one is in. It’s an amazing, comfortable, well maintained period home.

More like visiting a friendly distant relation than a B&B
Beautiful atmospheric property, extremely friendly host, wonderful setting, great breakfast.
Hadn’t appreciated when booking no en-suite facilities but not really an issue for us

Overnight stay in beautiful setting
The lodge is set in beautiful gardens. Very peaceful and relaxing. Inside is full of books and curiosities. The bed was very comfortable and meals were delightful. There is a small outdoor freshwater swimming pool, great for a quick dip. Beautiful stay.

A spectacular period property and surrounds sure to make good memories
Special location. Stayed here for a wedding in Brooklodge and location was perfect. The lodge has serious character and the gardens are spectacular. The host Sean is very accommodating and even gave us a lift to the wedding venue.

Grand Stay , Host par Excellence .
My goodness, where to even begin !
First , this is Not a hotel , nor is it a ‘B&B’ .
This is a grand ole home that the owners have graciously opened to the public - on a small scale .
If one is looking for the latest greatest ‘comfort’ bells and whistles , do not come here : there is no cafe on-site , there is no restaurant , no 24-7 at the beck n call ‘service’ .
Instead , this grand ole home has the patina of History , a dining room where once upon a time Michael Collins visited ( and so much more ! : Sean with a lifetime of experience and stories can relate the unparalleled history of the property — dating back to 1800’s — in a spellbinding way ) . The whole building is filled with a well-curated collection of historical furniture and arts , decoration : yet accessible and free to enjoy : an afternoon tea in the drawing room ; the lush grounds that were established in 1920’s , the Japanese Garden .
: And yes , the beds are comfortable ; rooms impeccably clean and cared for .
There is no dinner on command , but if the property happens to be at full capacity ( 6-8 persons ) , the option of dinner Is available : and very well worth to partake . Patricia’s culinary talents and creations are well restaurant worthy !
It was a brilliant time to enjoy the company of happenstance dining companions : some from overseas on an Ireland tour to continue their roadtrip the next day , some hikers off The Wicklow Way which is just up the road . Great to exchange stories over a delicious meal .
I , myself just wanted to needed to get away from the city for a spell with my two little dogs - looking for quiet and tranquility , I could not have picked a better place : Sean a most gracious host making sure I am well looked after while allowing me ample opportunity to just enjoy my time without interference or interruptions . Truly a joy .
A quiet understanding , I felt as if a houseguest for a few days’ visit . Remarkable .
Could not have asked for a better suited few days away .

A charming hunters lodging in the Wicklow Hills . . . an alternative to a luxury hotel - good value
As anticipated, the location was a woodsy, natural location away from any city or village. We enjoyed following a stream to a waterfall on the property and just having a pleasant walk in nature. Our host Sean was pleasant and served a good breakfast, eggs, yogurt, cereals, juice, toast, tea and coffee. The room was adequate and had a charm reminiscent of a bygone era.
The grounds are well-kept and with flowering plants and shrubs everywhere. Rescue donkeys paid us a visit in the morning.
The nearest and only pub/restaurant in Glenmalore is about 15 Km away. We had eaten before arrival and did not check out the local pub.
There are two bathrooms that are shared. One has a tub but no shower and one does have a shower. Everything seems well-maintained, but nothing is new or modern.
The 8/10 rating takes into account value proposition.

The property is located in a very remote area, and is absolutely sensational! Everything exceeded our expectation. The property has a massive garden with a beautiful natural waterfall flowing through the passing river.

Gorgeous house and rooms for a stay you won't forget
The location and the house is something you dream about. Tucked away on a hill at the end of a pea-stone drive on the hill with every view of lush trees and garden. It's a rambling house with many large well-appointed rooms with places to sit and relax and enjoy the rich decor and history. The bedrooms are bright, beautifully decorated and the beds were super comfy. The owner, Sean, is very relaxed and friendly. Breakfast was simple and fresh. Highly recommended.
