Kilquiggan Cottages

The bed was very comfortable, and the shower was also excellent

The kitchen is quite tired, and overall, the house could do with a little sprucing up

The Cottage itself is a piece of history. It is a very special place where to spend few days and enjoy the beauty of rural Ireland. It is situated in a small village, very quite and full of nature. The cottage is fully renovated wth high standards, it has everything you might need to enjoy your stay. Kitchen,bathroom, living room and bedrooms fully equipped. Also very well decorated, which added to that historical feeling that the cottage and Kilquiggin have. It is very cosy and welcoming (we staied in the Maher's cottage), lots of information about the town,cottage and sorroundings are also provided in the cottage for you to read and plan your next adventure. Thomas (host) very friendly and always available to help if needed. Beds were super confortable! We loved the whole experience and we'll be gladly back!

Location & price

Could have been more basic amenities such as milk & shower gel. These are normally the very minimal items we would expect in any rental. Noisy neighbours who partied until early hours. Mattress could be updated, very soft and springy

The location is quiet and peaceful but perfect for the mountains and a short drive from a lovely town. Nice garden to sit out in and the kitchen was well equipped. Main bedroom large and bed comfy if a touch creaky. Nice to have a washing machine.

Poor communication from hosts - we had to ask for info re checking in unlike all of our other stays this trip. While there, new guests turned up next door and had the same issue with no info on how to get in to the sister cottage. We provided the contact info for hosts. The photos are very well staged but there were no blankets, cushions, rug or coffee table. Had the images been more true I would not have wanted to pay what we did for our stay. The bathroom was filthy - the shower was very dated and the grout and tiling brown with grime. There were spiders and webs everywhere - it was clear it had not been thoroughly cleaned recently. We had no hot water - at first we did but it ran out and we had someone come to look who told us there was a boiler fault and to wait for the host who came that evening. He indicated it wasn't a fault but a switch left off but after he went we still had no hot water. He was lovely but we were glad to be leaving the next day. If you have mobility issues this is not the property for you - the stairs are slippery open wood, the bathroom is downstairs and the bedrooms are in the eaves so you have to duck to get in them. Bed 2 was not comfortable and it was a small room with a very creaky bed.
