Great location, great people, would book again

Great find, loverly customer service , handy location and great facilities, due to it’s modifications the bathroom wasn’t in the room but this was clearly stated and not a surprise

Central location, cheap. Place was ok for the price.

Bed was like a thin sheet over metal springs. Had to lay all the bath towels on the bed to make it bearable. Probably the worst bed I've slept on in a long time. Mattress topper would solve this. Headboard of bed not attached, just sandwiched between wall and bed - knocks constantly when in bed - shoved a few pair of socks between it and the wall to stop it. The shower clip that holds the handheld part of the shower is broken so can't be used unless you hold it in your hand constantly. Lino in the bathroom was curling up and mouldy underneath, caught our little one picking at it. One of the lights in the bathroom not working. Fridge in the kitchen won't close due to ice build up. Clock in the kitchen also wasn't working.

Location very close to Darlington station was all important for me travelling with a suitcase. Close proximity to various takeaways was also handy , though I chose to sit down at a nearby pub for my evening meal.

Comfortable room, friendly and helpful host who gave suggestions for local places to eat and walk when I asked. Having access to a kitchen was great too.

Very clean comfortable room with very good access to the rail station and town centre.

The owner was very helpful. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. 5ea/coffee making facilities were available in a shared kitchen. The location was very convenient for the rail station and for the town centre ( a five minute walk)

Friendly budget hotel, convienient for Darlington Train Station

119 is a budget hotel, located close to the train station and easily reachable on foot. My friend and I shared a twin room ensuite, while it was basic, it was clean and comfortable. There is a new looking shared kitchen with tea and coffee, microwave etc. This was my second stay at Hotel 119 having also stayed for the Great North Run last year.

Booking.com says last check-in at 7pm, I received a call on the day from the owner to say last check-in was 6pm, as luck would have it, my train was due to arrive into Darlington at 6pm, he seemed a kind man on the phone and I don't believe I would've had any problems with a later arrival given the circumstances.

Clean, comfortable and great value. Handy location close to the station and town centre. Communication from the host was exceptional- I received a courtesy call to enquire time of arrival and when I explained we would be late, I was given very clear instructions for entering the property after reception had closed. This was also sent to me via text message, as well as some help finding the hotel from the station. I chose accommodation with shared bathroom to keep costs down (nice to have the choice) which was very clean. There's a kitchen too, useful for if you want to do your own meals and for making drinks

The other guests were very considerate, but the doors are quite heavy and can be a little noisy.

Ehhh.....

I liked the staff—they were great. I really can't fault them at all. That’s honestly the best part of the whole experience, to be fair. The location is also convenient, being close to the city centre and the train station.

Oh… where do I begin? We were on the top floor, which made getting upstairs quite a trek. It’s a tall building, and even for my partner and me—who are relatively fit—it required real effort. The bathrooms are shared, with no private options, so you’ll likely be sharing with five or six other guests. Unfortunately, not everyone was considerate, and some left messes in the toilet. The walls are extremely thin—you could hear a pin drop in the next room. The beds and floors were very squeaky, and even light footsteps caused creaking. During our stay, someone was kicked out for smoking weed, and I smelled it most nights, along with frequent sirens outside and loud conversations. Our bed sheets weren’t changed at all during our four-day stay, though we did receive fresh towels. The restaurant area is currently being refurbished, which is understandable, but it means no breakfast is available. You’ll need to eat out or grab food from nearby shops. Overall, it’s fine if you need a place in a pinch for one night. But for a longer stay, I’d recommend heading to the Premier Inn just down the road.

Good value option for a weekend away near Croft circuit

Small, cosy triple room with comfortable beds. TV and Wifi worked well throughout. Spotless kitchen with tea/coffee, etc. Excellent communication from host, informed us of arrangements for arrival, and were extremely flexible when checking out/allowing us to leave luggage. Thank you. Bedroom and bathroom both impeccably clean. Located on quiet lane, two mins walk from railway station or town centre. Good value, especially for Saturday night during race weekend at Croft circuit. We would stay again.

Whilst not a shared bathroom, the bathroom for the triple room is not connected, so requires a walk down corridor. Nothing major, just something to know.

Entrance unclear from Victoria Road. Curtains did not hang properly excluding light from car park. Basement room so no view. Hot water took very long time to come through both in the basin and in the shower where no instructions for the control, all a case of "trial & error".

The interior of the hotel was light, bright and spotless. Comfortable bed and good shower.

I had not realised that this was not a "conventional" hotel which would have reception, bar and other services - maybe a bit more research on my part would have revealed this, but it's a building with a number of bedrooms, a guests' kitchen area for preparation of food etc, and unstaffed between about 5pm and 10.30a.m.

Great hotel, great location

Expectations were low for this hotel, as we only stayed for 1 night following a show at Darlington Hippodrome and had a train to catch the next morning. We were pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness of the room, the comfort of the beds and the warm hosts. We would stay again!
