Friendly staff and comfortable accommodation near town centre

Close to the event I was going to at the Hardwick Hall. Walking distance to the town centre. The two pooches that live at the pub :)

The entry to the bathroom… watch your head! The door frame can be hard.

A lovely home from home on the fringe of Darlington town centre.

The usual friendly welcome, comfortable room and good food in the bar. Good access to public transport, rail and bus. Conveniently located on fringe of town centre.

Brilliant place.

Friendly owners and staff. The place has a great atmosphere. The food is quickly prepared and plenty to choose from on the menu. I have stayed twice and both times the room has been immaculately clean, the beds are extremely comfortable also.

Smells of dogs and cigarettes. Only pet free as they have dogs.

Well located for Darlington Station and town centre

Advertised as pet free because they had their own dogs. Room above outside smoking area of pub. Stank of dogs and cigarettes.Had to go elsewhere as allergic asthmatic and couldn't stay there. Check in via very rough pub and if I'd have gone to complain I doubt I'd have got out.

The room was beautiful and modern and so comfortable. The staff in the pub downstairs were so so friendly. Great atmosphere and the food was lovely aswell.

Recently renovated rooms which were clean and comfortable. Decent shower and hairdryer also provided. Very good value for money.

Slightly noisy in the early evening due to the bar immediately below me, but it went quiet from 9.30pm onwards so no complaints.

Excellent place

Everything thing was spot on giving the location.I reached all I needed like food just seconds away. My driving to biz place was just about 5 minutes. It appears the hotel had a renovation recently .

Nothing really, I would have picked on packing but a secured public parking is just a minute away.Am not really a dog person, their dog didn't bother me.

The property is in a great location. Clean room, comfortable bed right at a fair price. The staff that work there are fantastic. Could not fault a single thing. And to top it off the pub part is a fantastic pub. Would strongly recommend to anyone visiting Darlington

Best place to stay in Darlington

Airy clean rooms, beautiful decor and bedlinen; welcoming and helpful staff. 5 mins walk straight down from the train station, easy stroll to the Hippodrome theatre and into town.

Great Darlington hotel

Its great for my husband as he comes up for the football. Staff are great and responsive. Fantastic bar downstairs, no noise from it. He has stayed at other more expensive options in Darlington that are not as good as this place. Amazing value, they should charge more...but not when we visit!

Excellent location for my stay & room was good value for money.

I was arriving by train & excellent location to walk to from there. Room was spacious & comfy as a solo traveller.

Was ok for a short stay but not used to no drawer space. I am noise sensitive & I was aware of the noise from the pub but that was at a weekend so likely fine through the week.

Helpfully close to the station.

Very helpful staff, the person taking me to my room explained the slightly complicated front door. Room nicely clean, curtain worked very well and I'm not sure if there's been sound-proofing work done but couldn't hear traffic on a town road that was more than a lane (the hotel is right on a road). Also the host is okay with take-aways in the bedroom (I didn't need to do this as I was in time for the pub downstairs) (just) as long as the associated rubbish is not disposed of in-room.

I was put in one of the rooms at the top of the building and the shower-room was slightly cramped / difficult to stand up in ...then again I'm just under six foot so that may be more of a personal issue.

Went to Darlington to collect a car so needed a place to stay within walking distance of the railway

The staff were the kindest people who went above and beyond to make my stay so lovely. Everything was very clean and comfy and regularly maintained. Very good value as well.

Excellent value for money, plenty of parking available

For what I paid the room was everything I needed it to be. Spacious, excellent facilities and clean. Staff were incredibly helpful and kind!

Walls are somewhat thin so I could hear the piping in the rooms adjacent. Very minor but the pressure in the shower was a little poor, not really an issue though.

Clean, cosy and comfortable

Great location for both the station and the centre of Darlington. The room was lovely and had everything I could’ve needed. The staff member who showed me to my room was really friendly and explained everything well.

The bed was very soft but accept that’s a personal preference. The bathroom is looking a little bit tired but was clean and functional with a decent shower.

Comfortable overnight stop.

This was a great little overnight stay. Because I travelled on a Sunday I managed to park nearby and avoided any parking costs. Darlington is quite lovely. The lady who checked me in was pleasant and provided all the information I needed. I had a relatively peaceful stay and the bed was comfortable, the room was modern and clean.

There was a little bit of noise in the street outside/below my room from patrons of the bar. It didn't last too long though, and I slept well throughout the night.

Reserved single rooms which were surprisingly large, very comfortable, very cheap bar, well located, decent shower, nice and warm. Very impressed for the money, nice friendly staff

a great, value-priced hotel; a very easy walk from the Darlington Railway Station.

While it was a little bit of a challenge getting up the stairs, the room was nice and the owners very friendly and solicitous of us during our stay.

The access to the rooms (stairway) was a challenge, but nothing that we couldn't handle.

Great value and would return

Good lighting in the room. Room tidied daily. Tea tray fully restocked daily. Well sited for trains and buses. For breakfast I found two or three sandwich bars on the same road and a local Sainsbury just round the corner. Haven't slept so well in a hotel for a long time.

Very very pleased and will stay there again!

For the price, I was very pleased To find the staff were fantastic. Room was very clean and good decor. The ease of booking and earlier check in to drop luggage off made my day so much easier. I’ll definitely stay here again, should I need to stay overnight in Darlington again.

The noise of people on corridors up to 11pm. But understood as it’s part of the pub/hotel culture. Not so great when need an early night.

Not quite a hotel!

The staff were friendly, efficient and approachable. The room was compact but had everything we needed and was clean, comfortable and newly decorated.

The advert said that breakfast was available, but in fact no food of any kind was served. It was basically a pub with rooms over rather than a hotel. Parking was in a pay car park across the road next to the sorting office.
