Fun retro motel!!

Really enjoyed this cute motel. It was perfect for a stay during a family reunion. The kids really enjoyed the park across the street and the room with a kitchen was perfect for those with a baby! Nice staff as well!

Flowers and fantastic relaxation

I loved the layout and the eclectic decor. The owner was truly caring and I enjoyed our conversation. There are benches outside the doors so you can take an evening sit, smell the flowers, and look at the stars within steps from your room.

Wonderful

Close proximity to all we wanted to see, they (staff) had a menu & recommendation to MO’s diner & within walking distance & GREAT food!! Loved it!! I (Cheri) stayed here about 15-16 years ago & loved the location, I can see as of 8/4 there have been updates made but y’all will always be my go to when in Manitou/Colorado springs!!

A great place to stay and excellent value.

The owner was extremely helpful and friendly. Our room was very comfortable and spacious and extremely clean. It’s outside of town so lots of space to get away from crowds but far enough away that you might need to drive into town.

Perfect place to stay for a two day trip to the Manitou Incline.

Great location. Clean bathroom, great water pressure and the a/c unit inside worked excellent on a 100 degree day!

Disconcerting

The location was excellent The facilities were decent

People in the room above our's were very noisy until late at night The lock on the door did not work properly resulting in having people working on the lock when we wanted privacy to change, clean up, and relax. We were not provided with any compensation for this inconvenience

Very clean and great location

Really well located…almost to the entrance of Garden of the Gods and only a mile or two from Pikes Peak, Wind of the Caves and downtown Manitou Springs. Very clean and manager/owner was very nice. Bathroom looked like it was recently renovated. Also very quiet (it is off the main drag). Always appreciate the fridge and microwave as well as bath towels that are bigger than a postage stamp.

Bed squeaked a lot, TV didn’t work and there was no hair dryer 😞. I could possibly have contacted management, but didn’t want to wake her up at 6am. Also, hope a bath mat for the tub will be provided soon as the tub is extremely slippery.

Overall, the stay was good. We weren’t in the room as much except coming back to shower and sleep.

Good location with tourist attractions near. Owner was nice and friendly. Gave me tourist guide information.

A/C was unplugged/ventilation taped up and could not be used due to the area still experiencing some cold weather. We came from the south so it was little warm for us at night when sleeping. We did end up opening the window to let some cool air come in but heard noises outside from vehicles driving by.

Wonderful welcome.

The welcome was amazing from the lady onsite. Very helpful and gave us lots of useful information. Fantastic value for money. Basic amenities but very clean and comfortable. Perfect location for Garden of the Gods. Such a cute little town too, wish we could of explored this more.

It is well kept for as old of property it is.

WiFi & TV Services are not up to par. Really turned off by the bedding being hung outside over the dirty, dusty railings to dry. Really turned off my the management. The other reviews are understandable. They are initially very nice. Then you realize the extreme micromanaging of the property, watching your every move. They come into your room and touch things which is a turn off. I was going to not say anything and just be glad to check out until I heard the owner speak to a staff member. She certainly wasn’t nice to him and spoke down to him and was demeaning. Would not come back.

Absolutely Amazing place to stay, get out of your head and embrace the welcoming...

What a hidden gem, don't let the low stars fool you, unless you care about having a pool (which I don't) this is a 5 Star Motel. The owner is all hands on deck and takes great pride in what she does, she is very welcoming, super hard working, and amazingly accommodating. Location is perfect, tucked away from the hustle and bustle so you can relax and unwind just knowing everything is only a few minutes away when you are ready to venture back out to play and/or explore. I felt we got off to a rough start after camping for a couple days and sleeping on a mattress with a slow leak in a little tent, by the time we arrived we were half out of it and ready for some real rest. The office is small with room enough for one check in at a time, we were waiting outside so as to give space for the owner to tend to her check in, I was goofing off and know I may have sounded rude, the window was open and I was overheard sounding impatient, it was embarrassing because I know how it sounded. It was one of those moments when you feel like your foot is in your mouth, the owner kindly let us know through the window that she would be right with us. It gets better. (Keep this in mind, after 12 years of working in the Pest Control field as an inspector, I have been OCD about checking every bed before getting in, trust me when I say I have seen some things, I check any bed any where.) The owner gives you her 100% attention when checking you in, she is so welcoming to her guests, she walks you to your room, informs you of all the local Hotspot, transportation, amenities available here and around you and so forth. She walks us to our room, I have flashlight in hand and begin inspecting the bed right in front of her, I am figuring if I find anything we will be able to get a different room because there would be no argument, when in reality I am quite sure I just absolutely insulted her. Oh boy, I had both feet in my mouth.

Staff was very friendly. The room was nice. Location was easy to get to, and possible to walk to Garden of the gods. The bed was very soft, so that's good if that's your preference. The extra soft bed did not bother my back, even though I typically prefer a firmer bed.

The strength of the WiFi was marginal. My phone would only connect outside the room, and sometimes on the edge of the room closest to the office. Lost signal if I moved farther into the room. My wife's phone was able to maintain connection a bit better. Could use a stronger signal, for sure. Some may not like how soft the mattress is. You sink into the bed noticeably.

I have tried to contact The Red Wing Motel regarding this issue. Still waiting on a reponse.

Breakfast was not served at this location.

We were charged $250.00 for smoking in the room and on the property We did not smoke in the room and we smoked in the back parking lot by or in our car, as we were told we could do. If they believed we had broken their smoking rules then why were we allowed to stay for 3 nights? There was no daily housekeeping. we had to ask for clean towels and coffee, the room was never straightened up, or trash emptied, or dirty towels picked up. Today is 6/14/2021 I still can not get The Red Wing Motel to return my calls. I have numerous messages on their answering machine. Today I noticed they took the time to respond to my review here on booking.com. Now they are staying we DEFINITELY smoked in the room and that we STOLE their towels!!!! Plus they are saying they offered trash service to our room. We were never ask about trash service, we thought it was part of the daily services offered, like towels and coffee. Once again WE DID NOT SMOKE IN THE ROOM!! WE DID NOT STEAL YOUR TOWELS!! It would be nice if someone there would have the courtesy to call us back and discuss this issue. Seems to be an issue with the Management of this property.

We loved this place

We loved everything about this place. It’s practically next door to the Garden of the Gods, the room was clean, the shower was excellent, the lighting over the mirror was great for doing my makeup, and the gardening in the planters and in the fenced eating area of the parking lot was beautiful. Even the ice machine exceeded our expectations and we would absolutely stay here again.

…I can’t think of anything we didn’t like.

No breakfast but not a problem for us. Location worked well. Close to family in town. With in walking distance of Garden of the Gods. Also had a shuttle service, didn't use, but looked like it could get you to all the places in town you would want to visit
