room and location. The room was very clean and suited the needs of the stay. The location was close to the convention center, so it was an easy walk.
I can't think of anything I didn't like.

This is a Grand Hotel from an ERA gone by. Fantastic lobby with a lot of very comfortable seating to have a cup of coffee or a cocktail and watch the world go by. High quality services including a great check in, a very helpful valet, and a good coffee shop and restaurant in the lobby. My king room was ready when I got there and everything was perfect. This was simply an overnight trip for business and I pay my own expenses so I was very price conscious. 5 or 6 days before my trip I checked booking.com for this hotel and it was one of the more expensive options in downtown Pittsburgh. The day before my trip I checked booking.com and the price had fallen to make it one of the least expensive options in downtown Pittsburgh. So the pricing is variable but if you can find this at a very low price you're getting a very high quality accommodation for less money than other chain hotels.
I drove my own car. The valet parking guy told me that it would be $55. He also told me of a $6 overnight garage one block down the street which is what I chose. This is probably not a negative at all.

Room was comfortable as was the bed. Cozy and a great downtown view. Close to the subway which is how we arrived. Great restaurants, Tap room, Pop up bar, and Afternoon High Tea. All were great experiences. Beautiful decorated main lobby area with great seating. Enjoyed the Bethel Park HS choir concert that performed on Friday. Front desk staff were very helpful and a smooth checkin and checkout.
Loved it all..... Thankyou!!!

Absolutely beautiful! Our stay was in December, and the decor was outstanding! Our room was huge, on the 16th floor, and we could see the Nativity down below. We were within walking distance of most major places within the city. We really enjoyed the classy atmosphere and rooms, and especially the comfy robes that were provided! It felt very luxurious!

Staff was incredibly accommodating our entire stay. From the moment we checked in. Getting a AAA upgrade, to the cleaning staff offering me water on my way to the gym. Ms. Elizabeth at the front desk was so extraordinary when we decided to extend our trip for another night, she was able to make it a great deal without switching from our upgraded suite. We did bring our children (3 and 15) and the holiday decor is extraordinary. From the many trees, to the giant tree in the main room that has to be about 25 ft tall with perfect decorations, the nutcrackers welcoming you inside and outside the building, and the exquisite gingerbread house with the train. (The pop up coffee bar/night bar was sooooo cute, and yummy!) Such a beautiful place to stay during Christmas! We were able to.walk to PPG Ice Rink, the people's Christmas Market, and the Benedum for the Nutcracker performance. All walks were 100% safe feeling and quick - less than 10 minutes - even with a toddler. 10/10 recommended if you're looking for some magic with children. Staff made it even better. Valet service was 10/10, quick and efficient with bag delivery and retrieving the vehicle when needed. ($55/day extra charge but 100% worth it!). It's a magical place. The fitness center boasts a large space with top of the line equipment, including a new peloton (this made me extremely excited as a peloton rider)! It was clean and cozy with a fireplace.
We will be back!!!!! Thank you for making the weekend before Christmas so magical.
Toilet paper could be better.

Love the location downtown and the grander of the interior especially at Christmas
The room are a bit dated and our room in particular had torn curtains and older furniture.

the location and that is all
the room was dirty, the heater was broken so the room was freezing the entire time, half the lights where out and no toilet paper when we checked in. overall from what i paid for a suite was an embarrassment. as a frequent business traveler i thought i would spoil my two boys, boy was i wrong.

The room adjoining our was playing some type of gospel music all night. It was our honeymoon night. This was very disturbing but we didn’t complain. Called the hotel to report but since we booked thru booking .com they would only refund our valet fee. This wasn’t bookings fault but the problem was from the Omni s thin walls.

It was a bit dated but is clearly well maintained

Great location. Use the parking garage across from hotel to self park (vs expensive valet)

The Omnin William Penn is a beautiful grand old hotel that has been wonderfully maintained with most of the historical architecture preserved. It felt like I had transported back to another world and time when life was more genteel. The staff were all very kind, polite, and helpful. The room was specious with extremely comfortable beds; actually the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on in a hotel. The rooms also maintain their historic charm, but with nice, beautiful updated fixtures and facilities such as newly tiled tub, new closet doors, new lighting, etc. I came down for the Paul McCartney concert on November 11, 2025, and it was an easy walk to the venue, the PPG Arena. The William Penn retains its beautiful Terrace Room dining room, Taps Room, and other amenities.
I did not like that the elevators require one to swipe one's room card on a sensor before the elevator will work. I was not informed about this at reception, and there are no signs letting guests know this, so I felt foolish for a few minutes thinking I was doing something wrong with the elevator. Also, the Lobby is not clearly defined on the elevator buttons and gives the impression that the Lobby is one floor above where it actually is. A few signs explaining this would be helpful. Also, I was not sure if the hotel offers room service or not. There were no pamplets detailing a menu and how to obtain room service if I had wanted it. I fortunately did not. Despite these minor issues, I had a WONDERFUL experience at the William Penn and I highly recommend it for those willing to pay the extra money for a grand, glamorous, old world experience, and for those who appreciate the historical aspects and architecture of the place.

Antiquated heating system was not turned on. Engineer had to remove 2 panels to switch the system to heat and bring in a portable heater. Heater turned off in the middle of the night. Design is flawed: vent blows air behind the curtain onto the window and not into the room.

Very nice historic hotel. We had a corner room on floor 11. Good location within walking distance to most attractions downtown, including the stadium. Comfortable bed, great shower. The staff was friendly. The bagel place was great for a quick breakfast. The coffee shop made a fantastic latte.
The carpet in our room was a bit worn out.

Beautiful and close to Cultural District for the performance we were in town to see.
Expensive (for us), but was worth it for a special treat in a beautiful, historic hotel.
Parking is expensive, but you are in the city so that should be expected.
Even though it is expected (because it is downtown), parking is expensive.

Great staff, inside, and outside!
I get it….Supply and demand! Three weddings and Packer fans in town to beat the Steelers. But $700+ per night?!?!?…

This grand hotel is really lovely when you enter. Very pretty all around. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The location is excellent. Parking is in a underground garage right outside the hotel.
A good gym for a hotel; however, many of the audio hook ups were broken.

The lobby is beautiful. We liked that there was a bar, restaurant, coffee shop, gift shop there.
I ran the Mario Lemieux 6.6k race on 10/5 and the hotel was in perfect position to be close to the starting point for the race. It was close enough also to walk to restaurants nearby downtown.
I like the old school entrance and beauty of the lobby but I think the guest rooms could use some new updates to be a little more modern. The rooms are just a bit dated and could use a refresh. It is always really cool to stay at an old hotel and have that classic feel when you enter the lobby and concourse areas, but walking into a your room and then seeing a modern color scheme, cool modern lighting and amenities is the way to go. The dresser in the room was there for a long time and you can tell by the knicks in the furniture and the style.
This is especially true in terms of the price per room.

The lobby was spectacular and the location is great
The room was small and a bit outdated. Didn’t go with the grandiosity of the lobby.

Room was a little dusty. Toilet was difficult to flush, but maintenance came right away.

The historical hotel was amazing. Loved the building and all the history.
The room itself was nothing special. Service at brunch was almost non-existent. I had to hunt down someone to pay.

Close proximity to everything downtown. Thoroughly enjoyed all of the dining options right onsite. Lastly, the hotel exudes charm and feels like a piece of history.
