The apartment is a first-floor unit that is clean, comfortable and well-furnished, including a kitchen that has all the necessities one needs to prepare simple meals. The location is a 10-15 minute walk to the city center. A couple of blocks from the apartment, along Lothian Road/Earl Grey Street, there are 2 or 3 co-ops and a Tesco Express for groceries, which is very convenient. A number of restaurants and cafés are within easy walking distance. We were able to get situated and walk to everything we needed and/or wanted to see.

The key is held at a U-Save nearly a mile from the apartment. We saw a U-Save that was much closer and would seem to be a better option. A few instructions would have been helpful. Although the property manager sent videos on how to operate the appliances, etc., the links didn't come through. We suggest that the owners leave printed out instructions on how to turn on the stove -- sounds crazy, but in addition to the digital controls on the stove itself, you have to know which fuses to turn on -- and on how to lock the door -- also sounds ridiculous, but in order to lock the door from the outside, the door handle has be to lifted upwards. It took several tries for us to figure it out. The larger issue, though, and the reason for not rating the experience as excellent, is that the security deposit was huge (800 GBP); was charged to our credit card in full (not a hold, but an actual charge); and it took a full month and several messages to get it back. So others should only consider this apartment if they have the money and flexibility to deal with that. We also note that the deposit was way more than we were told it would be on the confirmation email we received after booking.
