Dawlish Retreat Lodge 6 PortMile

The accommodation was spacious bed comfy and lovely and quiet. Loved the double bedroom. Love how out of the way it is away from busy places just what we needed and would stay again. Check in was good minus chasing code. Beautiful views from decking loved sitting out in evenings and mornings.

Hot tub had jet floating in it we raised this issue but it was not resolved. The lodge needs a good clean. Floor in en suite needs work. Decking needs work needs a bit of love as its a stunning place.

Lovely setting, quiet rural location, great views, great facilities. Friendly staff. Everything we needed was there. Perfect holiday. Thank you!

The only negative thing was the signal on tv was poor/ unwatchable due to squeaking. That being said it would only be the evenings we would have watched it.

Location was good, especially parking as I had 2 vans of which they kindly allowed, not sure why there are no previous reviews as it is obviously rented out, bedrooms are small but adequate, there were no draws in the main bed only a wardrobe with a shelf of which was a bit high for me to see my clothes being 5 foot 4, our friends had the twin room and used the full bathroom opposite the room and we used the en-suite shower and toilet in the main double room - all were in good order, kitchen was well equipped with plates, cutlery and saucepans etc, we did not use the cooker but thought is could be a bit cleaner, kitchen tap leaks which is a shame as it will ruin the wooden work surfaces if people don’t continuously wipe it after use. Nice large table and chairs in the living / dining area which we did use for takeaway and cheese n cracker night. There is a log burner of which we did not need to use due to nice weather and there is a large decking space outside complete with bench, chairs and hot tub of which we did not use but it looked clean. The 3 seater settee has seen better days as I thought I had fallen through it when I sat down, it was ok once I found a comfy bit. The patio door on the right did not lock which panicked me the first night and I put a load of bottles in front of it so I would hear intruders 😂.. we fixed that the second day and all was good again, we turned right out of the entrance and walked up and around the Dawlish country park which is perfect for dog walking and if you like you can walk to Dawlish Warren through there as well, took us about half an hour. Just be careful when you first go out of the entrance as you have to walk on the road for about 50 yards and road is quite busy. I would stay here again.

It would have been nice not having to walk on the road when first leaving the property, our dogs are quite savvy when it comes to roads but I was a bit taken back at how fast and close people drive past you.
