Tafarn Penllan White Horse

We stayed here after a day visiting Zip World in Betws-y-Coed and had such a lovely stay. Ian, the owner, made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. It's a proper country-style pub with a really warm and homely atmosphere, and all of the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Our room was clean, comfortable and homely, with thoughtful touches including toiletries, hot drink facilities and bottled water. There were two menus to choose from, including an authentic Thai menu. We ate from the Thai menu and it was absolutely lovely — genuinely the best Thai green curry I've had! The homemade Biscoff cheesecake was delicious too. Breakfast the next morning was lovely, and the person looking after breakfast was professional, friendly and attentive. What really stood out was how personable the owners were. It genuinely felt like we'd just walked into our local. A really homely, down-to-earth place with great food, super-friendly owners and staff, and a proper country-pub feel. Thanks for a lovely stay — we'd definitely stay again!

Lovely little hotel. I think we called it a ‘hidden gem’. Meals were superb, room was superb apart from a green light through the night.

The pub, the staff and the food of an evening were superb, best Guinness I’ve had in ages. Our room and bed were really comfortable.

Upstairs landing was unfinished and needs painting and carpet but I think it’s a work in progress. Unfortunately the breakfast was really poor, the young man that appeared to be doing everything was so respectful but cannot cook, first day was overcooked and the second day was just burnt out of recognition, training is needed.

No mirror at all to shave or do hair.nothing to hang your clothes up on.had to use curtain rail.could have done with a chair to sit on not just the bed.wash basin in bathroom was tiny difficult to wash your hands even.
