About this apartment rental
Surrounded by open countryside, the property enjoys far-reaching views towards Loch Assapol, with the sea visible to both the east and west. It’s an ideal setting to unwind, and take in the natural beauty.
Just a short walk from the house, you’ll find two white sandy beaches—Scoor and Kilvickeon, along with the historic abandoned township of Shiaba, perfect for exploring and experiencing the area’s unique character. Once a thriving crofting community, Shiaba was cleared during the 19th-century Highland Clearances, and today its ruins stand as a poignant reminder of the island’s past within a dramatic and beautiful landscape.
Scoor House itself is a traditional two-storey farmhouse that has been converted into four fully equipped self-catering apartments, along with an adjoining cottage. Surrounded by a working farm, guests may see livestock in the surrounding fields; for their safety and comfort, dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.
The apartments take their names from the surrounding landscape and local heritage, including Shiaba Apartment. Located on the ground floor to the left of the building, Shiaba features a large front-facing window that fills the space with natural light while framing expansive countryside views towards Loch Assapol.
Comfortably suited to couples, families, or small groups, the apartment provides a peaceful and welcoming base for those looking to unwind and enjoy island life at a slower pace, surrounded by nature and wildlife. To enhance your stay, Shiaba also includes a log burner, creating a warm and cosy atmosphere—ideal for relaxing evenings after a day of exploring,
(please note that firewood is not provided).
Guests also have access to an on-site laundry facility for added convenience throughout their stay.
An ideal location for exploring the south of the island and Iona.
