Mary house lake view

Mary House was home away from home. Such a welcoming delight after flight delays and jet lag. Fabio, our host went over and above from before we left home until our departure. The communication and tips he provided were extremely helpful. When we arrived late in the evening we were so grateful to find pasta, sauce, bread, salad and wine which provided a delicious dinner without having to venture out. It was wonderful to enjoy the food and wine and relax on the terrace with incredible views and watch the sunset over Lake Como. Fabio also provided coffee, milk, cereal and cheese which was greatly appreciated the morning after. The location of Mary House was perfect for us within walking distance to the ferry and train station (slightly over a mile… which for us was great as we enjoy walking when we are traveling. Our first day after exploring Varenna we enjoyed a fabulous lunch at Fabio’s restaurant just up the hill from Mary House. The fresh pesto spaghetti was absolutely delicious! Fabio’s wife Teresa was lovely and the attended to our every need. We visited the restaurant again the evening before we left and had a wonderful bottle of white wine. Fabio is not only well versed in wines but he is an excellent chef and shared delicious appetizers with us as we relaxed on the restaurant terrace. We cannot say enough about Fabio and Teresa. We have traveled a lot and we both agreed that they are the very best hosts we have ever encountered. If you are looking for a place to enjoy all that Varenna and Lake Como have to offer do not hesitate to book Mary House. If you enjoy hiking as we do, the trailhead to Senterio del Viadante is in Varenna. It’s a beautiful hike that ends at Orrido de Bellano; and must to see! The property owners have a restaurant that is just a short hike up the road from the property. We were able to have lunch upon arrival at their restaurant prior to checking into the property. There is a little porch area that we enjoyed stargazing at night from. The host provided some essentials to have breakfast and a delicious spaghetti dinner, which we all are still craving some more of that sauce. It was nice to have the convenience of a washing machine, and we had plenty of hot water for the 5 of us to have showers. It was a beautiful 20-minute walk to Varenna. However, the host does provide a list of taxi companies you could contact to get there in 5-minutes. A few times we reached out to the host, and they were excellent at communicating back to us. Take the fairy to Bellagio, but eat in Varenna at La Scarpetta. My personal favorite is the lasagna. We would love to stay here again.

Nothing that the host could have controlled
