This place is beautiful and the host is fantastic and very responsive and helpful! I spent A LOT of time researching rentals in Piran to find the best one and was not disappointed. I stayed for ten nights in September 2026 (20 degree weather with a little rain on a couple of days), so really got to know the place well. Firstly the view from the rooftop terrace is unmatched (you can see the tower and the city walls and all the rooftops). You are one road back from the main square so it is really close to the centre but as you’re in a little nook of buildings it is very quiet. On the top platform you can wave at the renters across the street, which was super fun as everyone is so happy to be there, but otherwise it’s very private if you are on the lower part of the platform, so you can hang out undisturbed. You can also see the rooftops where they filmed the movie ‘The Union’ while drinking a glass of Traminec wine from the Mercator supermarket right next door. The terrace seats don’t look that comfy in the pics, but as a potato-shaped human they were fabulous, and I had several cosy crafting and reading-naps with my feet up on the middle platform. There’s even a lovely shade umbrella you can put up if it gets too sunshiney for your liking. From 10pm every night, the whole town goes to bed and the stars come out above you, so if you are an introvert who loves quiet, bookish evenings, welcome to paradise! You might hear the reverse beeping of a binman in the morning, but that’s it. The neighbours are silent to the point I wasn’t sure anyone else was even there. Perfect! The bed is sooo comfy (it is also huge!) and there are masses of extra blankets, tons of pillows, and the bedroom is the size of my entire apartment in Scotland with storage for days! The ceilings are at an angle across the apartment, but I’m 5 foot 7, and had no problem walking anywhere inside.
I loved everything however a few points of note. This property is in a giant loft area at the top of the building so do expect lots of stairs. I could tell my fitness was better near the end of the stay as I wasn’t asthmatically wheezing up the last couple of flights. You’ll need to be OK to sherpa your luggage up four floors but the stairs are wide and well lit so it’s really easy if you pace yourself. Lots of cool art and old photography and maps in the stairway to entertain you while you wheeze. 😂💕 If I could improve anything it would be properly nitpicky stuff. I would have loved a teapot to be part of the kitchen supplies provided as the mugs are more sized for coffee drinkers than a greedy tea-guzzling English gal like me (there’s enough wine glasses in there for an army, so perhaps replace a few of the glasses with a teapot?), and an electric toaster would have been a great addition. But there was a full kitchen otherwise. The bathroom window does let a little sewage-smell from the back street into the bathroom area (very mild) due to the way the heating pipes are set up, so you can’t stop the little smell from getting in, but I found if you just close the bathroom door you only need be bothered by it when you are using the bathroom facilities, so you forget it’s even there. For the shower, top tip: flip the switch outside the bathroom an hour before to get a heated shower…took me a hot second to figure that out, lol! Might be useful for the host to put a little label on the switches by the bathroom to tell idiots like me which switch does what, as I just used guesswork until I got the hang of it. I could’ve asked, but I was too busy adventuring. It would be good to have a spare bin bag provided for longer stays as I wasn’t able to put an empty bag in place when taking the bins out on my last day.
