Architect's Retreat - Cornish House of the Year 24

It's a very unique and interesting property, with plenty of neat details, some stylish furniture and products, Plus, it's more spacious than I think some reviews and, perhaps, the photographs suggest. The location is good, with the town centre a 5-10 minute walk away. The keys were very easy to collect.

Whilst we don't like to be critical, the following aspects did disappoint. Firstly, the parking space is incredibly tight. Even if you park the passenger side as close to the shipping container next door as possible, it's still not particularly easy to exit the car. Just be sure your passengers and luggage have been removed before squeezing into the small void provided. I'd also suggest that you need to be quite a confident driver. Secondly, some of the roads to the property are also very tight. So, be sure to take it slow! Not something the owner can control, of course, but, we'd have appreciated some mention of this. Thirdly, we were quite disappointed with the bed. It's a good size, but, quite, shall we say, sparse. It didn't feel particularly substantial, and, with the mattress not filling the frame, be sure to adjust it towards the headboard each morning to avoid losing your rather limp pillows. We just felt that the bed really didn't match the quality of the property itself. It let it down, and felt like an afterthought. Finally, the curtains/drapes are not at all good at keeping the light out. So, expect to be drenched in light as soon as the sun rises.

The design was lovely and it was a comfortable stay! A very unique place.

I do think there needs to be some curtains in the kitxhen for some privacy.

The property is very stylish with all the modern amenities you could need

There are no curtains in the bedroom, which meant I had to sleep with a piece of clothing across my eyes as there is a large velux window which streams light in from 5am. The sink in the bathroom also doesn’t drain as the plug is stuck. I sent the owners a message regarding this but they did not respond. The pillows in the bedroom are also very uncomfortable and have cheap filling.
