Oranienburg Vintage Hotel - Private Garden Residence

Interesting decor and paintings. Bed very comfortable. Coffee and tea available, and a fridge. We liked the spacious Golden lady suite, and the Cafe de Chateleine below. Handy. . Lovely staff there! A limited menu - huge portions. There is a microwave, kettle, coffee and tea in the nice seating area, must have been a bar before. Games in a dining table. No fans there, but one in our room.

Parking not explained on booking. I should have checked. We arrived in a heatwave, made the walk up to collect car difficult - a steep hill. Info came post booking No handrail ion the steps down to the hotel, which is not exactly an hotel, not serviced. But lovely place. A nice garden space but needs work, I am sure will be sorted because a lot of love has gone into this concept. At the moment nit an attractive space. Lots of old pub tables in the garden, a sunshade would help. I am sure this area will be sorted too. The owner has vision This a new venture, with potential .

Altijd al eens in een museum willen slapen met kunst en geschiedenis? Dan is dit een goede keuze. Alles hangt vol met kunst en curiosa. Alles was goed doordacht en duidelijk ingericht door een creative geest. Als je het kasteel in Vianden wilt bezoeken: die zit vrijwel om de hoek.

Het was erg warm gedurende de dagen dat wij er waren. De kamer had geen airco, wel een ventilator, maar daar krijg je de warmte onvoldoende mee weg en maakte veel herrie. Als de temperaturen buiten lager waren was dat natuurlijk geen probleem geweest. Ieder voordeel heeft z'n nadeel.

Oranienberg is unique. This iconic hotel has recently been revived after lying dormant since the nineties, and sits at the top the historic town of Vianden in northern Luxembourg. The town, with its ancient buildings dating back to the Middle Ages, a cobbled street which descends the steep slopes from the old castle high above and the Our river valley below, was badly damaged in WWII and was the last town in Luxembourg to be liberated. It is well restored and its history is to be seen everywhere amongst its restaurants, bars and cafes, church and little square. The hotel is run by a small, friendly staff and divided into areas such as the Garden Residence where guests can enjoy the communal sitting areas and gardens as well as their own spacious rooms. Every inch of this unique place is crammed with curios, art, photography, sculpture, antique furniture and a riot of vintage colour. Rooms are well appointed, spacious and are all individually designed, or perhaps arranged, with yet more art, antique rugs and furniture and each has its own theme. The beds are made with traditional woollen blankets and high quality linen. The sleep quality was peaceful, comfortable and deeply relaxing. Breakfast can be enjoyed in the restaurant which sits at the front of the hotel and has a terrace looking down over the town. Guests are encouraged to help themselves to tea and coffee at a help yourself area within the lounge, which is also filled with books and games and little sitting areas, and leads out into a cottage garden where you can relax in the dappled shade of its many trees and plants. Though the hotel does not offer facilities such as a pool or spa, the thought and care that has gone into creating this vintage space is repaid with a feeling of great calm and wellbeing. It may not be to everyone’s taste and is indeed very individual, but if you are not looking for Hilton like efficiency and uniformity, you may well fall in love with this quirky place.

The bathroom was under lit - my wife had to remove herself to the comfortable sitting area in our room to finish her make-up! Leaving - we would like to have stayed longer.

Er zal ongetwijfeld een bepaald gedachtegoed achter deze opzet zijn en dat is natuurlijk prima maar zorg dan wel dat voor het bedrag van €236,00 per nacht de mankementen allemaal verholpen zijn. Het reservoir van het toilet vulde zich pas helemaal na 45 minuten. De douchekop is lek, er spuit meer water uit aan de achterzijde dan bij de kop. Keukenkastjes die van de scharnieren vallen als je ze opent. De kamer was ook niet heel schoon. Kortom veel te duur voor wat je krijgt.
