The Resting Place

Comfortable bed, clean, good location, good value. The kitchen/sitting room was an unexpected bonus although, apart from meeting other guests there one evening, I didn’t use it.

No toiletries were provided. This is very unusual and should be made clear when booking. Although I was not unduly worried I found that during my three day stay the front door was very rarely locked. There is a small notice asking people to lock the door but perhaps people think that refers to when they enter. It was actually very difficult to lock the door from the outside requiring several turns of the key and a check to see if it was locked.

Comfortable modern room in a good central location. Well equipped kitchen.

No fire safety instructions or obvious secondary escape route. The steep stairs had an ineffective hand rail which pulled away when I held it.

Kitchen was a bonus. Shower was fantastic. Location was only minutes from city centre and supermarkets etc.

No blackout blinds in the Castle room, could hear guests in the adjacent room talking, no they weren't shouting, just holding a conversation. Mattress was terrible, springs digging in your back, bedding was also terrible it didn't fit the bed, pillows were again terrible, cheap and lumpy. Front door was never locked so any passer by could enter the building.

Great to be able to use a kitchen and a huge Tesco and M&S food next to it so I could cook and didn't have to pay to eat out. Very comfy bed and good shower. Good WiFi. Walking distance to the main town and beaches/promenade/castle ruins.

Bedding and towels were clearly clean but the en suite had not been cleaned, the sink and shower needed a scrub and had hair in there from the person before me. Kitchen and living room space smelt a bit. Kitchen surfaces needed a good scrub, everything was a bit sticky. No parking by the accommodation itself which the owner does advertise, and he recommends a car park about five mins walk away. I parked on a couple of residential streets just before that car park and it was fine.
