Stunning 3 Bedroom Cottage near Historic York

The location of the cottage was wonderful - quiet and stunning views across the moors. Peaceful and a nice area. Lots of wildlife seen from the property: barn owls, red kite, hedgehog...The kitchen was spacious and had lovely views.

No handrail on the stairs - this made it very difficult when carrying cases up and down and presented a real risk. Two bedrooms had no hanging space, which was limiting in where to put our clothes.

Communication with the host was excellent and keys were simple to locate. The property was spotless and warm on arrival. Its in a great countryside location with private parking and feels remote yet was just a few minutes walk down into the village. Theres a superb cafe and shop but more importantly two pubs - the one we ate in was superb. This cottage has ALL the amenities for cooking with a delightful open plan kitchen/diner but we ate out all 3 nights. Michelin guide Abbey Inn just 2 mins drive and Star Inn at Harome just 12 mins with a Michelin Star were both magnificent - we booked the latter in advance to be sure of a table! The walks are delightful around the cottage and we took a couple hours out on Wednesday to go right up into the woods and then down into Wass where the Stapylton was serving at lunchtime - so good to see local pubs open and thriving mid week. The log burning stove and smart TV in the evenings completed a fabulous stay here. We will definitely be staying again. And did I mention the views are amazing!
