Clean, tidy, homely, comfortable Will be going again Handy for local attractions 👍

No dislikes, but could have done with a rug just inside doorway...we used the dogs towels as we didn't want to dirty the carpet...not an issue, though. Tv might have been better on the wall above the fire, but again not an issue

The cottages {in a remote setting) were left unlocked with the keys just inside the door, heating was on and the cottages were lovely and warm on entry. Parking was directly outside. The cottages had everything that we needed, plenty of bedding, towels, basic kitchen resources. Really appreciated being allowed to take dogs, plenty of space/areas to walk the dogs.

Location was excellent nice to get away from the city and was so relaxing. It had everything your needed for self catering would definitely book again 😊

Nothing to do with the host but guests next door constantly banging doors and trying the connecting door between the cottages.

Around 3 miles of single lane road to access. We would have appreciated if a small bottle of milk, and a full loo roll had been left for us. Even if it meant charging a little more.

It was just perfect . Such a great place to stay . Beautiful countryside amazing cottage and great staff. We will definitely stay again on our next trip to the Uk and will recommend it to friends and family .

Adequate for a couple of nights.

We were allowed into the cottage early bt a friendly young lady. The cottage was clean, comfortable and well equipped.

The cottage had a patio with seating, but there was a lack of privacy as all the cottages looked out onto the same small courtyard. The decor and furnishings were dated. To get from the bedroom to the bathroom you had to walk through the sitting room, up two steps and through the kitchen, which was awkward during the night. The freezer compartment in the fridge needed defrosting. The television in the bedroom was too high, which distorted the picture.

Everything we needed

Very clean and comfortable with everything we needed. We cycled the Rievaulx Raider which passes almost by the door. Thanks for providing a hose to wash our bikes and a place to shelter them from the rain.

Smashing and nice

Well equipped for our needs

Could do with another armchair. Also bath needs a shower attachment otherwise everyone using the en-suite in another room. Wi-Fi a bit in and out. But overall a comfortable stay

Great location and facilities and larger than we anticipated.

Great location for the places we wanted to visit. Unfortunately some roads were closed which made getting around quite difficult at times (not the fault of the hosts of course). It was very isolated which could be an advantage if that’s what you’re looking for. Beautiful location and very quiet.

Quite dark inside the property, the kitchen in particular was not good in this respect. Be prepared for farmyard odours, there was a strong ‘fishy’ smell not far from our cottage which couldn’t be detected in the cottage fortunately but would have made it very difficult to stay there if it was. I think they feed the calves on seafood derived food possibly? We tried multiple times to get in touch with the hosts during our stay (to actually stay one more night!) but despite our best efforts no one responded which was frustrating.

No bulbs in some of the lamps. Double bed seemed smaller than a double. Floorboards in upper bedroom very creaky so makes a lot of noise in the double room below.

A very rural, cute cottage.

Cute cottage. Both rooms had their own bathroom which was great for our girls. Kitchen had everything we needed to cook a meal. Beds were super comfy.

It was a lot further from Helmsley than we expected - very remote. It is very much a working farm (which we knew); lots of early morning machinery noises on the morning of our second stay.

Very peaceful and relaxing

The location does show as Helmsley, but it's actually Old Byland which is about 4 miles from Helmsley. Old Byland is a small village, however there are no shops or a pub in the village which isn't an issue. The location cannot be faulted, based on a working farm with miles of open fields surrounding the cottages. You do need a car to get to the farm, access from either direction is a few miles of single track roads. Despite being on a working farm we weren't disturbed by any associated farm noises, in-fact the farm was very quiet. We stayed in the Granary, 3 large bedrooms with double beds and each with it's own en-suite. Cottage was clean and tidy with nearly everything you need for a relaxing stay. We are happy to recommend Valley View and should the need to visit the area again we'd be more than happy to Stay at Valley view again.

Would have been nice if there had been a courtesy bottle of milk in the fridge.

A lovely little cottage in a beautiful location. Tucked away in the countryside and ideal for walkers.

Lovely location and a cozy retreat and the staff we very welcoming and helpful.

Some of the facilities were a little sparse. No dinner plates. Minimal cutlery etc No full length mirror or anywhere to do hair ie no dressing table. Some of the pre stay emails were standardised and had differing check in times and gaps for pre formatted input that hadn’t been completed, but this is a minor issue easily resolved.

Family Holiday

This is our second visit, and it did not disappoint, ideal for my elderly parents who can not do the stairs, bedroom downstairs. Comfortable for us all. Also, a bonus had a bra fit onsite with Amlebosum, which was great. Thank you 😊
