Pitak Hill Villa Sidemen

The view is undoubtedly magnificent! It it truly really high and you can see the whole valley with rice fields! The staff is nice and friendly and trying their best. Pancakes for breakfast were tasty. There were two really friendly gentlemen that helped us to get the luggage down the steep road, which we really appreciated! Other staff was nice too and they always greeted us. There is a nice subtle wind, which is so pleasant and nice, when you're sitting on the balcony.

The road there is really steep and narrow - our driver was nervous about it. Breakfast only offers instant coffee or black tea and you have to pay for other drinks (juices etc.) We rented a scooter and it was dirty including the seat and the helmets from inside. I get it when it's scratched and old but it could've been clean. We had ants everywhere - on the floor, table and in our luggage (which is not the accommodation's fault - just note it could happen). We had one blackout - which can happen in the area, so just prepare for it. The bathroom had a semi-open roof so insects could get in. There were a few errors, which I am not going to list because they apologized through Whatsapp, after we left. But it would have been nice to (for example get a juice on the house) as an apology or an acknowledgement when we were still there.

The views! We were at the top of the mountain with an overhanging deck view of the rice terraces. It was astounding! We set our alarm to get to see the sunrise and set a camera on time lapse to watch the color changes. They brought us food right to the deck and it was magical. The host and staff are all family and couldn’t be any nicer! They invited us to observe their traditional ceremony and treated us like royalty. It was an amazing experience.

Make sure your taxi driver is comfortable driving up the hills in sidemen. Our driver was very nervous and dropped us off a couple kilometers before the villa. We had to walk some, but the hosts received a call from neighbors that saw us so came and picked us up on scooters. It was my fault for not communicating early enough about our arrival time. It probably would’ve been easier had they known through WhatsApp that we were approaching.

The panoramic views from the villa are breathtaking. The villa was very comfortable. The included breakfast was spectacular.
