Adumi Retreat Tam Cốc

The owners are beautiful people. Nghi was a delightful lady who spent all her days making sure the property always looked its best. The location is perfect, set amongst the rock cliffs and a green oasis. It is just out of the main town of Tam Coc which is an easy 5 minute bike ride, push bikes that are in great condition are always available free to guests. You can hire a scooter from the hotel as well for 130,000 VDN for the day. There isn’t a restaurant at the hotel but there are so many close by it wasn’t an issue, many within a few minutes walk. Breakfast which was included was perfect, a choice of beverages, a cooked meal and fruit or waffles to finish with. The villas are beautifully kept, all very modern and clean. It is only a small hotel, I think there was only 7or 8 villas. The pool was a perfect spot in the afternoon after a day of exploring. Would highly recommend this stay and location.

המיקום לא ממש במרכז, הוא באזור שקט יותר שזה נחמד, והם מספקים אופניים, כך שזה מרחק רכיבה לא גדול מהמרכז. הם הביאו לנו אופניים גם לילד הקטן שזה מאוד נחמד מצידם. המשפחה שמנהלת את המקום בסה"כ משתדלת לסייע בכל פנייה שהייתה לנו לגבי כל מיני תקלות שחווינו במהלך השהות. יש פערי שפה (ידע מוגבל באנגלית) אך נעזרים בדור הצעיר כדי לשוחח ולתקשר.

בגדול, זו לא הייתה שהות כלכך מוצלחת עבורנו מכל מיני סיבות: המצעים לא היו נקיים, אך הוחלפו. המגבות באיכות לא כ"כ טובה וכמעט מדי יום הגיעו מלוכלכות (והוחלפו בכאלו נקיות לבקשתנו, אבל זה היה מתיש ככה מדי יום). במקלחת מים חמים היו לסירוגין, וספציפית בחדר שלנו היה טפטוף קבוע מהאוורור של המזגן על השירותים שהיה די מרגיז. דלת הכניסה של החדרים פונה לשביל שבו הולכים בין החדרים כך שצריך להיות כל הזמן עם וילון מוגף, שזה די מבאס, כי אין חלון מלבד דלתות הכניסה שפונות החוצה. ארוחת הבוקר לא הייתה לטעמנו (למרות שהם מאוד השתדלו) ואחרי בוקר אחד ויתרנו בשאר הימים והלכנו לאכול במסעדה במרכז.

This was the best place we stayed in Vietnam. The Adumi Retreat was set amongst the mountains only a short 5 minute bike ride from the centre of Tam Coc. It was a picturesque, peaceful setting with easy access to everything. The 3 generations of family that hosted us were so friendly and lovely. It was spotlessly clean with a great swimming pool and very good bikes to borrow. The breakfast was freshly cooked to order.

The best part about this place was the pool. We enjoyed using it at night. There are two cute cats (although I spotted fleas on one of them). The location is nice, although be aware there are multiple other hotels that look directly into the pool/villa area.

Every other aspect of this accom was disappointing. The family who run the place are friendly enough, but not very professional. Most of them don’t speak English, which is fine but makes communicating hard when there are difficulties. When we checked in there was no one at reception. I tried calling them and contacting them on WhatsApp/Booking.com, but no response. After 20mins we realised there was someone in the back office who had just not come out when we arrived. I never got a reply to my message during our 4-night stay. In terms of the facilities, the bed is very hard, the hot water only lasts a couple of minutes, and the breakfast is not good. There was also loud construction going on directly next door during our stay. On our last day we wanted to relax by the pool, but there was a digger and workers literally metres away from us, and they didn’t stop work until late in the evening. The fumes and noise were unpleasant. We also asked to do laundry on our last day but told them that we needed it back by afternoon as we were catching an evening train. We confirmed this with them twice. At 4pm, we asked where it was and they didn’t know, showing us other people’s laundry. Then they said it wouldn’t be ready until 7pm. They lost an item of my clothing which I had to go back and ask about. Finally, they charged us the wrong amount at checkout, which meant we had to pay twice and got double the card fees. I am surprised at the high rating of this place as overall this experience was well below what I’d expect from somewhere rated 9.5+.
