Everything was exceptional

The apartment is nicely decorated and fully equipped. The location is very central, right amongst the shops and restaurants in central Stellenbosch.

When we complained that there is absolutely no view whatsoever, the host referred us to the marketing photos. It is unclear from these that the view is onto a wall about 2.5m away, with aircon units as well as windows from apartments opposite. You cannot open the bedroom blinds for lack of privacy. You cannot see the sky for lack of view. We were very disappointed as we had booked for 3 nights, having to spend quite some time in the unit working without any natural light. WhatsApp calls are possible but not cell phone calls. It is a very noisy apartment block. Occupying the apartment is akin to occupying the bulk head of an old steel ship. Every sliding gate and word uttered in the corridors, even from the ground floor, echoes resonantly through the apartment. Asking for a refund, even partial, so that we could move elsewhere was met with a stern "Absolutely non negotiable".
