We loved this place, it is absolutely huge, so spacious and with amazing amenities. Great for a family or group of friends. The town itself is quiet but very cute and a great pitstop if hiking the Nakasendo trail. We loved the little details, such as local bath bombs which were lovely to use after a long day of hiking! We would absolutely stay there again if in the area.

We had a wonderful stay at WAKUWAKU. The property was u like anywhere we stayed during our month in Japan. If you’re hiking the Nakasendo, it’s perfect and a really delightful surprise.
The property is huge — so much more space than anywhere we stayed in Japan.
The little details are really fun — props, games, books, etc.
The stocked fridge was excellent and a fun way to eat after a long day on the trail.
Communication was excellent and check-in very simple.

Staying at the WakuWaku Base has been wonderful (we were 5 of us). Everything in the house is well-thought, the decoration is awesome. We cooked ourselves in the house and it’s been a really nice experience between 2 stops of the Nakasendo. Thank you for having created such a great place !
Small thing. Maybe add a couple of extra towels. If you need to wash and dry your hair for instance only one towel per person is a bit limited.
