Bear cottage

Lovely space, very clean and right i. The heart of Brecon , as described in the listing

- Definitely needs some bedside tables and lights for reading etc - kitchen bin needs a lid (and a few instructions about where to put rubbish)

The location was ideal for exploring Brecon. The cottage was clean, warm and cosy. The milk and Welsh cakes were a nice touch.

It would have been useful to have some hooks on the back of doors to hang towels and bedside lamps would have been a great addition. The dining table is sticky and could do with being sanded or covered and some of the wooden chair backs are loose. The gap around the bath could be filled to make it look nicer.

We had an overall pleasant stay and the property served its purpose for our trip. The location is excellent, just a two-minute walk from a very reasonably priced car park, which made things very convenient.

there are a number of things future guests should be aware of. The fridge is quite small and not really suitable for catering for five people, and there’s no proper freezer aside from a small compartment. The kitchen is fairly basic and could be better equipped (for example, there were no oven trays), and the oven mitt provided was very dirty and not usable. The dining table is wobbly and the chairs are quite worn, and the living space only has one sofa, which isn’t large enough for everyone to sit comfortably together. There were also a few maintenance issues, including the oven door handle repeatedly falling off, and no clear place to store full bins. Additionally, there was no hoover available, so we were unable to give the property a proper clean through before leaving. The outdoor space was not usable , the garden is very small with broken fencing, and there is a building site next door which was noisy early in the morning and overlooks the property. The bathroom could also do with updating, and while the shower gets very hot, the water pressure isn’t great.
