Pentland Hills Chalet, Hike, City, EV, Sleeps 4

We had a fantastic stay at this lovely chalet just outside Edinburgh. We stayed as a family of three (2 adults and a 4-year-old), and it was the perfect base for exploring both the city and the surrounding areas. The chalet has real countryside charm while still being very clean and well-equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We hired a car which made getting around easy, but there are also plenty of beautiful walks right from the doorstep, along with good transport links nearby. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home. We would highly recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful and well-located place to stay near Edinburgh.

The only minor point was that during the heatwave it was quite warm at night, but that’s to be expected in such unusually hot weather and didn’t take away from our stay.

Das Ferienhaus ist sehr schön, geschmackvoll, modern und mit Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet, ruhig und sauber. Es gibt alles, was man braucht und mehr (z.B. auch einen Handtuchwärmer und ein Erste-Hilfe-Kit). Das WLAN - und alles andere auch -hat gut funktioniert. Es gab gratis Kaffee, Tee und sogar Obst, Wasser und Schokolade. Die Kommunikation mit dem stets ansprechbaren und freundlichen Gastgeber und Schlüsselübergabe war problemlos. Es lag ein Buch mit Tipps zu Ausflügen in die Umgebung aus, das sicher sehr hilfreich ist, wenn man etwas länger im Haus ist. Es wurden zwei Schlüssel bereit gestellt, was praktisch war, da wir zu viert gereist sind. Aufgrund der guten Wegbeschreibung war das Haus leicht zu finden. Die Lage in den Hügeln ist sehr schön und man könnte direkt vom Haus aus loswandern, was wir leider genauso wenig nutzen konnten wie den schönen Garten, in dem man bei gutem Wetter hätte sitzen können. Für ein Paar (mit oder ohne kleinem Kind) ist die Unterkunft perfekt. Hunde sind auch erlaubt, was immer ein Pluspunkt ist, auch wenn wir unsere Hunde nicht dabei hatten.

Wir waren vier Erwachsene und dafür ist es etwas klein und auch ein bisschen unpraktisch, dass alle gemeinsam in einen Zimmer schlafen müssen. Aber das war uns vorher klar. Wir würden es trotzdem wieder in dieser Konstellation buchen. Die Anfahrt ist zuerst etwas abschreckend, weil man an einem Autohändler vorbei muss, aber auch das ist kein echtes Manko.

The Chalet is a hidden gem. Ideal for the solo traveller or couple for work. Everything I needed in a beautiful setting yet ideally located near Edinburgh city and the bypass. I plan to return often if available.

A modern and well equipped property. Lovely local walks and excellent access into Edinburgh. It was very clean, with a nice mix of indoor and outdoor areas to relax in. It felt very private and was the perfect little retreat.
