We had an excellent stay at this charming and sophisticated property. As other reviewers have noted, the location is fabulous for exploring the area of the Loire near Amboise. The house is a beautifully renovated historic outbuilding on a large estate; the property was very well equipped with thoughtful attention given to every detail. But most importantly, the owners are exceptional hosts, and they went "over and above" to ensure that we had a satisfying and comfortable stay. We highly recommend this lovely home in a stunning location.

Very high quality of fixtures and fittings in a splendid barn conversion - absolutely delightful! The location is splendid, surrounded by vineyards which you can walk around, and a delightful garden. Very handy for exploration of the Loire Valley, its towns and chateaux, and of course wineries. The hosts, Francine and Claude, could not be more friendly and welcoming. Usually living in the main house next door, they were away for much of the time that we stayed, but support is available if needed - we didn’t. There are a few internal steps to the ground-floor bedroom, so may not suit from an accessibility point of view if that were an issue. Otherwise - perfect. And the wine from surrounding vines is superb!

Wonderful stay in a luxurious beautiful property. Very well equipped As others have said, the photos don’t do it justice. Francine and Claude are so charming and welcoming, always available if needed. We loved the tomatoes from the garden, the flowers and jam, thank you Jacky! And of course the wine. Great area for cycling, and lots to see and do within less than an hour. Highly recommend.

Amazing property in a vineyard. Francine and Claude are very welcoming and friendly. They gave lots of helpful suggestions for activities. The cottage has everything you need, great kitchen, bedroom and living spaces. We stayed for five nights and it was not enough. I look forward to staying again sometime! Thank you Francine and Claude!!

It was a privilege to stay at the clos. The property is a beautifully managed winery and the hosts are very warm and welcoming. They live on the estate and graciously share their knowlege. Our only suggestions would be some fans or dehumidifier for use when it is very hot. While the home stays cool if the doors are closed, it also gets damp since it is stone. Many thanks to Claude and Francine for their hospitality.

I couldn’t imagine a better place to stay in the Loire for a family of 4. The house is a perfect mix historic but with modern updates. Very comfortable and well appointed. The design decisions were thoughtfully made. Beautiful windows and doors and amazing views. Claude and Francine were wonderful hosts and made us feel very welcome. It was the highlight of our trip to France.

We had a lovely greeting by the hosts when we arrived at this beautifully restored house. They personally showed us around, and made sure we felt at home before leaving us. They live in the house nearby but this was not a problem as they left us to it, and we were able to roam freely and explore the grounds. They were splendid hosts! We were very fortunate with the weather and so got to fully appreciate the garden and loungers, eating outside and relaxing. There is a great supermarket 3km away which served all our needs. 5 mins walk there is also a small village store, and a restaurant/bar which served great food which was very good value. There is a hotel within walking distance which also has a restaurant but we chose not to go there as ate in most of the time. The house itself has everything you need, and is decorated to a very high standard. 3 comfortable large beds, great bathrooms, plenty of reading material and wifi.

This is a brilliant property. It’s an old vineyard house, stylishly converted and very well equipped. The description and photos are accurate. There is a lovely garden in front with chairs and loungers, which sadly we were unable to use because of the persistent rain. Claude and Francine are the best of hosts, welcoming, friendly but discreet.
All in all, a great choice for a week in the Loire Valley

As a family we stayed at the end of August. The property was easily the best rental cottage we have ever stayed in. Very roomy and fixtures and fittings are of the highest quality. We loved the outdoor electric grill plate on the terrace which we have never used before, so much cleaner than a barbecue. As we have a daughter who is slightly autistic and also has Type 1 diabetes we always try and find good quality accommodation as we tend to spend more time there than other families might do as we often have to limit our days out if our daughter gets tired and this property fitted our needs perfectly.
Our hosts Francine and Claude were marvellous and very helpful to me when on day 1 I had an issue with my car and thought I needed a garage. Claude accompanied me to the garage and was able to communicate with them for me as my French is non-existent !! I was very thankful for the time they gave to help me. They both speak quite good English so we were able to converse perfectly fine.
If I have one suggestion for those staying here who are English speaking, there is a satellite TV box but it only has a couple of English speaking news channels available, BBC World and Sky News International. The TV is not a smart TV so as a suggestion for future travellers it might be wise to bring a dongle such as a Firestick or Chromecast that you may be able to access your streaming services via the good wi-fi at the premises. We had DVD's we brought so used the DVD Player for entertainment.

This lovely property completely lived up to expectation and was even bigger upstairs than the photos suggest. We really enjoyed the garden and view (shady when needed) especially the birds, including redstarts and barn owls. The village is very handy and we made good use of the grocery shop (fresh bread) and the cafe which was excellent value for morning coffee or traditional lunch. Many places to visit nearby whether by bike or in the car, however we were quite content to enjoy the surroundings from the garden. Thank you.

Everything was fabulous! Great, friendly and welcoming hosts, and perfect setting for a relaxing week in the Loire. Thank you so much Claude and Francine for welcoming us to your home so generously. Great location for exploring the Loire valley, main challenge was pulling ourselves away from the patio view every morning. House was perfect, with everything you could possibly need!
Thank you!

Everything was perfect for use, the gîte, the location and above all the hosts.

The property was ideal for our trip - bigger than it appears on the photos, spotlessly clean and well equipped. The garden was a delightful place to relax and our hosts were friendly and welcoming but not at all intrusive.
The location of the property was excellent with two restaurants and a small shop within walking distance.
There is also lots to discover in the wider area - gardens, chateaux, markets and restaurants....

We had a short (too short) one week stay in this property. The setting is beautiful, peaceful and very relaxing, in the middle of the vineyards. The property was very tastefully restored, and the inside is mixing touches of the past and many contemporary upgrades. Yet, it is just minutes away from the charming flare of Amboise, and from the bustling Tours. Well located if one wants to go to Chambord (1 hour drive), or Chenonceau (30 minutes). The owners are very friendly, and ready to help and provide some recommendations. We had a lovely time. Definitely a place to come back to.

Absolutely perfect in every way! Where to begin.... inside the pink rose wrapped house was everything you could ask for, comfortable and cool, much bigger than the photos suggest. The sunfilled garden was beautiful, plenty of furniture from which to enjoy the magical views and relax after cycling. Claude and Francine are perfect hosts..... thank you again!!

There aren’t enough superlatives to adequately describe Le Clos de Venise. As inspiring as the photographs are, they cannot convey the warmth and welcome of the owners, Claude and Francine and their caretakers, Michèle and Jacky. It’s not surprising that all of the reviews offer 5 stars. They cover most everything one can say about this exceptional property and our party of five (4 adults and a toddler) echo all the glowing comments.
It's the little things that made our stay so memorable.
• Watching the delight on our granddaughter’s face as she ran out to greet the sheep in the gardens every day.
• Walking the acres of vineyards and gardens and pathways so quintessentially French.
• Hiking, running, and bike-riding through endless vineyards and beautiful roads winding through surrounding towns.
• Appreciating the splendor of the trellised roses as they burst into bloom during our two-week stay.
• Enjoying dinners on the patio with our family while being serenaded by cuckoo birds.
• Learning how to queue up for morning baguettes at L’Epicerie.
• Buying far too many olives at the Friday and Sunday farmer’s markets in Amboise.
• Appreciating the bottle of Domaine de la Taille Aux Loups Vin de France “Venise” left for us so much as to immediately head to Montlouis-Sur-Loire for a tasting and a case of their offerings.
• Spending time with Francine and Claude and Michèle and Jacky over some wine and hors d'oeuvres and a roaring fire while seeing pictures of the before and after of the guest house and marveling at what a spectacular transformation it had undergone.
All of the joys and activities we were so privileged to experience were enhanced so perfectly by our home in France. Clos de Venise brought charm and enchantment, peace, and a sense of romance to our cherished two weeks in France. Thank you Claude and Francine for sharing your home with us.
